Jig Trailers???

Featured Replies

Just wondering what everyone's favorite jig trailer is?? and what color for clear and dirty water?  ;D

I would like to hear what everyone uses as well. I typically use a Paca chunk as they have worked well for me. I normally use a black and blue combo in stained water and a green/brown variation in clearer water. Although I am far from being an expert I do it enough that the tick of a jig bite is one of my favorite things!!

Smaller jigs (3/8 oz or less) = Rage Tail Baby Craw

1/2 oz jig = Rage Craw, Flappin' Hog and Double Wide Beaver

3/4 and up = Rage Tail Lobster

I like trailers to match or compliment the jig. My main

color is the basic black jig/ blue trailer. I also like green

pumpkin generically. To change it up a little, brown with

orange and red matches the native crawdads around

here.

Gene Larew & Rage Tail ;)

Black-N-Blue #1

Zoom pro chunk or rage craw, although in the spring I like to contrast my trailer for ex. Black and blue jig with pumpkin trailer!

I have been using Arkie(walmart brand) trailer for 1/4oz, and 3/8oz jigs. Jigs > 1/2 oz, then I use Rage craw.

On the side note, somehow I can can more bass on Arki Jigs than some of my more expensive Jigs. Arkie goes for $1.29 here. If I can get them on sale, its 50 cents a pop. Trailer is $1.99 per bag of 10 craws, really can't beat that. ;D

I use lots of different things in a variety of colors depending on what I am doing.

I use anything from small chunks to large chunks, single tail grubs, twin tail grubs, hula grubs, critter craws, all sizes of gene larew craws, and zoom swim chunks. I don't lock onto colors until I find a pattern because sometimes crazy stuff will get a good bite.

I rarely try to match the jig.  I usually contrast it.  One of the best nights I had last year was a red living rubber skirt with a while kalen grub.  It cow killed them.

My favoite is the one that they are biting best today.

Jig man, care to explain why you are using so many different types of trailer? Is there an advantage of one over the other during certain time of the year? or? I would like to hear your response on this.  ;D

Zoom super chunk, black/blue flake, and green pumpkin. I use the super chunk jr. on finesse jigs. Those get the job done for me most of the time.

Small Jigs - Netbait paca chunk in pumpkin or black /blue

Large Jigs - Rage Craw in the same colors

Small jigs: Ultravibe Craw

Large Jigs: Rage Craw

Rage chunk

I guess good thing I asked because I have been using the chigger craws. Which have been good but I heard that the Zoom speed craw and ultravibe speed craw were very good so I was gonna try those out this year but it looks like not many people use them. lol
