Fuel Mixture For A 25Hp Evinrude??

Featured Replies

I purchased a 89' Bass Tracker PF16 over the winter. Ive had it out on the water 5-6 times and need to fill my tank but I don't know what type of mix to use. This is my first boat so bear with me on this. Feels good to be off the bank but a boat presents a whole new set of things to learn/experience.  I just don't wanna screw it up. Thanks

If you're asking fuel/oil ratio, it's 50/1

Ant marine rated 2 stroke oil will work. They sell measuring containers that will break it down for you. So if you know you are using 5 gallons of fuel, it will show you how much oil equals 50/1

Out of curiosity, what difference does marine 2-stroke oil have to conventional 2-stroke oil?

I would imagine the detergent additives. My chainsaw oil doesn't say it can be used in outboards. My outboard oil says it can be used in chainsws

If you want to be totally sure, just take the serial # off the evinrude outboard, call an evinrude dealer give him the serial # and I'm sure they will be happy to help you out with the yr of the motor(just in case it is a  different yr than the boat) and the fuel to oil ratio to use.

For the oil, you want to make sure it carries the TCW-3 rating for all 2 stroke outboards.

16oz/1 pint oil to 6 gallons of gas for a 50:1 ratio. Any Evinrude made after 1964 uses that ratio. Also Evinrude recommends a minimum of 87 but suggests 89 octane for their motors. They say there are no benifeits of using a higher octane when using a TCW-3 oil.

I used TCW-3 OMC oil for ages.  I don't remember where I read it, but it was the most recommended.

You can buy 1 gallon for 20 bucks at Wal-mart.

50:1 is your ratio.   If I'm lazy, I'll buy the Evinrude 16oz oil (3.XX a bottle) and just fill out at 6 gallons at a time.
