A Rotten Start

So far, I am off to a terrible start. I have been fishing 4 times, and haven't caught a single bass. This is highly unusual for me and where I fish. I have talked to a few other guys on the lake and am finding that I am not alone. Just wondering if it's because spring is getting off to such a slow start.

It's been slow for me too, both trout and bass. A couple 2# bass from a pond, and three steelhead, none cracking 10#. The bass seem slow to "wake up" and the trout all jumped on redds, making them difficult for my style of fishing. I don't like messing with trout on redds anyway. Seems like snagging to me.

Did you use a lure that had a hook on it? J/K

We iced out about a month ago and I have yet to wet a line. Dam health program I'm on has me exercising every day!

You'll get em Hoots, just a matter of time!

Been on this forum for 3 years. Never read the part about the hooks...lol.

As far as the health program, tell your doctor, fishing is great exercise, both mentally and physically.

I've been on the site longer and thought that the term "Skunked" was part of "B.A.S.S: Bass Anglers Skunked Society" :Idontknow: ... Caught my first bass last fall!

Stick with me Hootie, you'll learn a few things... :eyebrows:

I thought you were a blowfish... :Idontknow: ...anyway, I liked your music. And, from what you tell us, you're not a bad fisherman. :hangloose:

Still waiting for Ice Out.....

Same here, but it's any day now. Got the boat ready, and loaded with the gear today, and the lake is about 1/3 open, 2 more days.

I hear ya Hootie. Third time for me today with no green or brown fish. Saw tons on the graph but they didn't want to bite. Today I did break the skunk for the year by catching two striped bass the biggest being 7lb5oz. Man those things put up a fight. Thought I had a 6lb smallie.

Gotta the conditions buzzed bait. It can't be all of us...lol.

I've caught nothing on a lake this year. Been out almost a dozen times. All of my fish have pond catches. I've thrown everything but a buzzbait. Frustrating when you're graphing fish and the lure in the same screen and you can't make anything work. Senkos, drop shots, jigs, lipless cbs, jerkbaits, Texas rigs, Carolinas and spinners. I've found a lot of combinations that won't work so far. The only thing I've caught anything on this year is beavertails, and that was by accident the first time. Thought I was snagged while I was practicing pitching to a stump. Just happened to see line twitch. Had success on it afterwards on three occasions. Go figure...
