I Hate Green Slime!

Featured Replies

I hate it, sticks to everything, seems to be coating the bottom everywhere around me right now. Just a rant.

Best stuff  I've ever found for bike tires though.

We get a lot of that here in MI also. I call it lake snot. Seems to be up in the shallows mostly.

I hate the stuff too. It's in every lake around me.

Then there's the black stuff too. Is it the green slot decaying or something related?

You ain't alone.

Here in NC the snot grass (as we call it) is coming out now. Pain in the you know what. :-/

Lake snot, snot grass both perfect descriptions

I hate those white fluffs that float on top of the water and get stuck in your guides and spool.

Whenever that stuff gets bad I know it's time to break out the floating worms and wacky rigged stickbaits :)

It isn't as bad as cottonwood seed though, at least it doesn't clog up your guides and stick to your line so you have to pick it off every cast.

How I roll with that mess step by step:

1.) peel off snot grass from lure

2.) sling it off fingers like real snot into the water

3) wipe excess on pants

4) have wife ask "what's on your pants?!"

5) exclaim "lake snot"

6) hear her say "gross! Go take a shower!"

7) :-)

I think it ranks a close second to cotton wood fluff as one of the worst things in fishing!

That would be me from today at my local quarry.....on both accounts....the pre-rigged bass stopper (worm) was catching well today in its surface spiral.  Outperformed anything else I tried.

Its been here for a few weeks now, its a pain for sure

It gets so bad on our ponds, you can almost walk on top of it.

Beats the hell out of ice! :)

In one pond around here, it was terribly bad so the owner put copper sulfate mix that killed it then brought a motor boat over and went circle around the pond and washed all the moss away.

Meh green slime means time to whip out the frogs baby

Frogs , weightless stick worms a.k.a senko , yum dinger . I also have have really good success with a light 3/16 or less carolina rig with a really long leader 3ft plus

my favorite pond gets it bad. i found the best way to fish it is definately with weightless plastics and top water frogs.
