Super Fluke Hooks

Featured Replies

What size and what kind of hook should I use for my super flukes? Will regular "worm" hooks work?

I like to use a 5/0 EWG on Super.  Regular fluke 4/0 EWG.  Weightless for me.

Me too!

For a full size super fluke try a 3/0 gamakatsu skip gap to texas rig it (weightless). 1/0 gammie dropshot hook for nose hooking. When I want to fish a fluke deep I use a belly weighted EWG, had good luck with the davis baits X swims.

4/0 Owner Twistlock

Do you find a changes the action?

I use a 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu. Anything bigger and I find it restricts the action and sinks too fast.

3/0 EWG gamakatsu  I've tried the offset shank worm hooks but my hook ups weren't very good

3/0 extra wide gap.

I generally nose hook them with a 1/0 Gam. wide gap finesse hook. If I rig them weed less, I'll use a 5/0 wide gap plus from Owner.

i use Trokar worm hooks.  It's a standard offset shank round bend hook.  I prefer these over the EWG hooks for flukes.

I have never used a hook that big for a fluke, you obviously dont think it inhibit's the action...

Mmmmm, got me thinking now.

I do think it inhibits the action, which is why I usually nose hook them on a smaller hook. Everything's a trade off. Action becomes secondary to getting caught in the weeds anyway.

3/0 or 4/0 EWG Gammy for full size, 1/0 EWG gammy for the junior, and a 7/0 EWG for the mag fluke.

4/0 EWG off set hooks.  I'm not brand particular, I use Eagle Claw and Bass Pro brands the most.  Never had a hook up problem.

2/0 Gammy ewg for a fluke. I like the almost suspending glide I get with this hook, and I dont miss many so Ive never changed.

Put me down for 3/0 for the super fluke and a 1/0 worm hook or 1 split shot for the tiny flukes.

I use regular 4/0 worm hooks, I prefer the thinner wire ones.  I don't nose hook them, I'll use a jig head.

When not fishing weightless, I love the Dangleberry Rig if you can still find it. The sliding weight gives the Fluke something the fish may not have seen, when you twitch/jerk it. Can't post the pic for some reason, but Google Image to see it.

I have used bass pro xps brand 4/0 off set round bend worm hook and 3/0 ewg. I also thread all the way through to the split on super flukes. Might have to try the nose hook and jig head techniques.

2/0 or 3/0 Owner Offset hooks and will use a 1/0 Gamakatsu for nose hooking.
