Jdm Tatula?

Featured Replies

I was browsing the web looking for deals on Daiwa Tatulas because I was looking to buy another one when I stumbled upon a Japanese model. I was curious if anyone here knew what the differences were between the JDM and American models. Looks like it may have a different spool as well as some cosmetic changes like different knobs.

The American Tatula reels, I believe based on the box they come in, are made in China.

haha yea I should have specified that a little better. The "American market" Tatula. I think Tackle Tour said Thailand was where they were made if I remember correctly. I'm guessing these JDM models are made in Japan then?

Cosmetics: fancy handle nut and retainer, different knobs, different colors, etc

Different spool: 103 sized vs the USDM 100 size. Basically, it is shallower, and about the same weight as the type r spool.

Titanium coated t-wing / levelwind.

Getting old! Looked at the box and it says Thailand, makes me feel a little better because China counterfeit everything!

You could special order one of the Icast show last year, had red and a yellow.

Looking at jdm daiwas is a slipperly slope for your bank account indeed...

Red and yellow are the two colors I can't stand. At least it's not cherry red but still red none the less. Still a sweet real though. I could possibly get over it.

Looking at them no, getting them ----> oh yeah, just ask me.

Just curious, what is the best prices that y'all have found for JDM Tatulas?

$206 shipped is the best I've found.

206 sounds is too high for it to be worth it IMO. You can get type R's for around 130 and the JDM 103 spool will probably only cost around 40. The small cosmetic differences are not worth much. With the $ saved from getting a type R with a JDM 103 spool, you could get a zillion CC knob and drag star along with some nice knobs.

Have you all seen the More than PE SV though?

A tatula with mag sealed bearings, an SV spool, and all the fancy cosmetics you could ask for. It probably has the clickies we all go crazy for too.

It is essentially Daiwa's response to the Shimano Exsence dc, another premium calico bass PE/braid reel.

I was going to recommend Japan Lure Shop because there price is around $183.00 plus around $14.00 shipping. They only take PayPal and then you have the PayPal fee. I have bought 2 reels from these guys and I was happy. They saved me over $60.00 on a Calcutta 100 versus what Japan Tackle charges and if any of you guys want a NIB old model Conquest 100, they have them for under $300.00 on their Sales and Specials page.
