Crankbait Id

Featured Replies

I found these 3 bank fishing, within the past year sitting in the mud and hung on stumps and rocks. I took them home, cleaned them up, and took the old hooks off them. The first one is a dt6 but I can't find the color on rapala's website. The other two look like a japanese crank to me.

Edit: sorry for the sideways pics. I can't figure out how to flip them.

They look like Normans to me. At least the bills do. I'm not sure though.

I dont know, but I would be trying the similar ones out. Apparently that is a good color out there

The one on left is a Rapala DT. Looks like the DT-6. Not sure about the other 2.

Another vote for Norman.

The one on the bottom is a Norman Thin'N. the one above it looks like a smaller version that I have never seen.

Definitely Normans.

From left to right.....Rapala DT 6 in Chart. Purple Shiner....it's a discontinued color, Norman Mad N, and Norman Thin N....IDK what that color is though, it's not on the norman site. Could also be a discontinued color.

Dude, you're good !

The color looks like, "Slick" but I may be a little off there.

Last season was my first throwing the Mad N and I gotta tell you, they have the best stock hooks I've come accross on a bait in that price range EVER.  Talk about sticky sharp, I had trouble tying one on without the hooks catching on my fingers. Oh, did I mention, the fish at my local lake hammered them.

With the success I had I figured the Thin N would be a great spring bait and I was right on the money.  I've already boated over 20 keepers with that bait in the few times I've been out.  I like a bouyant bait when I'm fishing timber and Norman makes some darn good ones.

left is a rapala dt-10

Yup, Mad N, and Thin N. Great cranks, but you have to go through a dozen or so to find one or two that are right. And the wrong ones are oh so wrong. I stopped trying...

You know, the one that floats with the color and the plastic lip.

Creek Crappie, it says in your avatar that you like fishing topwaters. For what

it's worth, try slowly reeling those two Normans baits and they behave just like a Wakebait. I use mine on the surface sometimes if the fish will hit them like that.

Good score!
