A good fresh water rinsing after each outing should be all you need. I apply some pledge furniture polish every so often to keep the water beading.

Yup, rise immediately after and include the reel as well. Air dry thoroughly before storing.

I use my bass tackle in salt water when chasing Specle Trout & Red Fish.

Rince thoroughly & repeat!

When rinsing the reel be carefull not to use a strong soaking spray.

The amount of salt in brackish water varies, I wouldn't be overly concerned about rod or reel.  Quite true about using a more gentler water spray, I like an open garden hose even better.  The object is to not allow salt grit or sand particles forced inside the reel.  Holding the reel on it's side and just let the water run over it, not a bad idea to rub you fingers on the reel at the same time.  I fish saltwater everyday, just a quick rinse down is all ya need.

I fish brackish water almost every day.  Ive learned to avoid a water rinse period.  I misting of salt away on a rag hits the reel and rod guides after every trip and the whole rod gets a Inox wipe down.  Reels roller guide and each screw gets a needle drop of reel x or corrosion x.  Dont forget the rods hook keeper where it hits the threading.

I've always soaked my reels in freshwater.

I do not have a need for it, but have read on numerous sites that Corrosion X is the ticket for salt/brackish water anglers.
