Nothing Working

Featured Replies

I had a frustrating day yesterday at the river fishing from shore.  I threw just about everything in my tackle box and could only manage 1 fish.  Meanwhile people around me soaking night crawlers and live minnows were pulling in fish.  I was actually a little embarrassed with my 50lb tackle bag and expensive rods/reels (I took 5 set ups) and meanwhile some drunk college kids fishing with their walmart combos were catching them with shiners.  I'm not putting down walmart combos or cheaper gear, I just felt a little foolish with my megabass xx and dx 743 and I could only manage 1 little bass.  Has this ever happened to you?

There used to be a time when the only thing that mattered was to catch fish, nowdays the least important thing is catching fish.

Agreed, beats working.  I guess sometimes live bait just can't be beat.  I still prefer the challenge of figuring out the pattern and making a fish bite with artificials.  I used to "like" fishing when I used to use night crawlers and shiners, but after I was turned on to artificial baits I love it.

See ? now you´re talking, it´s fishing not catching.

Yeah, there will be days like that. I've gotten skunked a couple times this year too. I've also had days where the minnow and worm fisherman weren't catching anything, and were blown away with the fact that I was hauling in nice sized bass and crappie on my artificial lures. You just never for sure how the fish are going to act on any given day.

Dont feel bad man, they were catching fish you were fishing for fish. Any foo can stick some live bait on a hook and catch something.

It happens man. I have two local neighborhoods I fish around me. My favorite places to go. Yesterday I absolutely destroyed em on a shakey head and finesse worm. Today I went out to the opposing neighborhood and only managed one fish. Crappy days are boring fishing alone, from the bank.

Not to feel bad friend. We went out last Thursday and got nothing BUT this crappy mud fish. We generally

pick up about 5-9 bass, but not one bass did we catch. Nice day on the lake anyway. Tight lines, Jake3

My brother in law that doesn't fish kicked my butt from the back of my boat once. Super clear strip pit with lots of grass, like 20+ feet of visibility. I was wacky rigging a stick bait, he put a bright chartreuse, double willowleaf bladed spinnerbait on his ugly stick, BPS megacast spinning reel with 10lb Cajun line and proceeded to wear them out. Sometimes the fish don't read the book.

Happens to me all the time.  Just part of fishing.  Enjoy being outside and be happy that you didn't get skunked.
