If i'm going fishing at night, I'm primarily throwing yellow twister tails or some sort of Rat-L but I haven't gotten anything yet this year. Any suggestions for night fishing?

In the foothills on NC we normally start night fishing in May. That said, my primary baits are a Zoom 8" big dead ringer. A black 3/8 oz. single colorado spinnerbiat. A R.I. Sweet Beaver in black with red flake. and a 3/8 oz. black and red jig with R.I. black/red flake smallie beaver trailer.

As the night fishing starts to heat up, i like throwing a BIG JIG along with big ribbon tail worm, short arm spinner, and also keep a hair jig with a zoom chunk tied on for smallies

Here in Texas, it's either late May or early June on into late September or early October. Baits? Depends on where I am and what I'm fishing for. My two biggest SM, a 5-02 and a 5-00, I caught near midnight on a black single-spin with black blafe and black trailer. Those were in Newman Lake, Washington, as was an 8-18 LM on a black Jitterbug. Those are two lures I always have tied on at night. I also throw a 10" black worm, Texas-rigged, and a 1/2 to 3/4 oz black bucktail jig with a pork trailer - either a Split-tail eel or a 9" eel.

Any dark lures. Preferably Black. You want to create a silhouette in the water

Throw the same baits, to the same cover, & on the same structure you would during the day!

A big Mepps spinner and chatterbait would be fun to throw at night.

Black jointed jitterbug. Black brush hogs, lizards and senkos.

Black SENKOS. They work at night great!!

Bladed jigs and brush jigs are two of my favorite things to fish at night. The strong vibration of the bladed jigs call the fish in and the brush jig cleans up the ones that don't want to chase. I prefer dark colors and bigger profiles at night.

Well, there are a lot of things to consider, but if it's the right time of the year for top-water in your area then a black jitterbug is hard to beat.

I like jigs, topwater and plastics. Topwater for the most part is buzzbait, hula popper, a walk the dog bait, jitter bug. I like a football head jig with a rattle or a chatter bait. Plastics big ol monsters, power bait worms or some kind of creature bait. Lizard as an example

It's been pouring the past two days but the Susquehanna river it's still around 6 tomorrow night it'll be up to like 13.6.Any tips for fishing in rain at night or even the day?

Ive had the best luck night fishing by starting with topwater baits and then moving my way down the water column. Take your pick of topwater lure...ive caught fish with everyone of them at night. A black spinnerbait with a black nickel blade has been killer at times, especially near grass and wood cover. As far as bottom lures go a bulky black/blue or black/red jig, black or junebug 10inch worm, and a shaky head with a black trick worm or black/blue craw have been my best producers.

Inline spinners like mepps #3 Anglia.

The rumor has it after things settle down from the earlier evening bite when it turns to darkness the bass turn on again around 10pm.

The old timers taught me this but I never tried a later evening bite. I like the early am better. In the dark I throw spooks, cranks as it turns to day lite.

When it gets real hot and humid in Delaware,i'll fish from about 11pm till about 7am.I don't care what I throw,just so it's black.

I must be minority here i throw mainly green pumpkin jigs and worms at night. But sometimes all they will hit is black. But i hardly ever throw any kind of top water, spinnerbaits or crankbaits at night. Only jiga, trick worms, and drop shot..

Last year I did really well on a June Bug Rage Lobster T rigged.  Caught a limit one night in about 45 minutes.  I like Dark Brush Hogs and Magnum Lizards too.  I want to try throwing a Black blue Chatterbait this year. Not sure what kind of trailer I will put on it yet, maybe a Paca Craw.  Im afraid to throw a Top water, mainly cause there are 4 of us in an 18' boat, haha. Dont want those trebles coming at everyone.  I am thinking about throwing a Big Black frog (Spro King Daddy) this year. May not be as scary flying back at us as a Jitterbug

I posted this question about Night Fishing Lures a month ago, and I took this advice right here and decided a Chatterbait/Bladed Jig sounded like a great idea and for some reason my obsession with bladed jigs ended about a year ago and I stopped using them....I now ONLY throw Bladed Jigs at Night, love a black and blue Skirt, Black blade, Slightly bent for more vibration, and a Strike King Rodent or gambler Ez Swimbait, Bass Pro Spring Grub and I also have been doing will with white, Brown, and using the different brands without skirts and making my own with swimbaits and a chatter blade in front and I flat out Love these Jigs for day and Night, Flipped or Pitched, Dragged, Swimming on Surface....I am back in love with the bladed jig....Take the Above suggestion, Try it out, it flat out kills Bass and Snook and Stripers up North also seem to like em......Best Tip I received so far on this site, I always though Topwater lures, Black Spinnerbaits, BIg Black worms, but the chatterbait is so fun to throw, I am finding I use it anytime I can't use plastics or if cover is too heavy to flip..Anyone know of a good weedless version? I know the jig is good in weeds by design, but I want to be flipping this for extra flash and vibration all Summer. Thanks For this tip.

you mentioned that the water you were fishing was moving moderately. are you fishing a stream?? the type of water you fish and time of year would make a difference in lure choices. you can basically catch bass on anything you would use in the daytime. type of water, clarity, and time of year will make some differences in best lure choices.

Night fishing is when I exclusively target big bass.

Anyone know of a good weedless version? I know the jig is good in weeds by design, but I want to be flipping this for extra flash and vibration all Summer. Thanks For this tip.

 

The Zman Pro Series Chatterbait has weedguards. That should help a bit.

I usually fish out into the rapids/fast currents during the day and catch quite a few but at night I can't get out to where I usually am just because of how dangerous it is. I have a hell of a time getting anything off the river bank/docking area. I just throw yellow twisters for a little and then switch it up but I just got a jitterbug again so I should hopefully bring some in with that.
