@Pilot. Many shad, including the most popular threadfin shad, have chartreuse coloring to them:

To me it is almost match the hatch with this color.  When a crank is bombing through the water, I think the ish see chartreuse and think it is a fleeing threadfin!

Citrus shad is my #1 color for deep crankin in the summer. I fish a big muddy river, but it clears in the summer and the citrus shad bite is on. Always have one tied on July thru September.

Sometimes they aren't too picky about color and if it resembles bait where they live.

Jeff is spot-on!

 

I'm sure that most are familiar with the "Day On The Lake" series.

About a year ago, I had access to an overview sheet of the results to that point in time.

Along with many other statistics, I tallied all the winning color patterns for crankbaits.

The clear winner was "Citrus Shad", which had the strongest showing of any plug pattern.

Anything red right now is great because of the craw fish color. You will definitely catch a straight up giant!
