How Many Times Do You Wrap Your Improved Clinch Knot?

Trilene knot or improved clinch knot, which knot do you use?

I haven't used the improved clinch in decades, when I did it was 5 twists, no reason for more or less.

The Trilene knot is very similar and stronger and the San Diego jam knot is stronger the both, 5 turns works good for all 3 knots.

How many times you wrap an improved clinch knot is dependent on the line type and the size of the line. Smaller diameter lines require more wraps than large diameter lines. Braid requires more wraps than mono or fluro in the same size line. A simplistic approach of 5 wraps for everything will get you into trouble with some applications.

I choose a pile of other knots before going to that one and it depends on how much of a hurry I am in.

1: Double Uni

2: Snell/Polomer

3: Improved
