I hear and read about guys using a dab of super glue to hold swim baits onto jig heads. Any particular super glue or whatever is cheap?

_{Zap a Gap which I use on my crappie style jigs, my prime peacock bass bait.   If you are referring to a fluke style bait I use no glue just press a jig head into them.  As of late I've been using Strike redfish 1/4 oz jig heads.}

I really suggest the loctite gel superglue

You dont want superglue all over the place and your fingers.

The gel is much easier to control and put where you want it

I use the Loctite Gel Super Glue, and it works very well and is not very expensive.

No the bait will come off. You don't need to use very much, just a couple little drops.

I bought some of that Carlson's tackle fishin' glue, and it's very liquid and runs all over the place. A little super glue pen is the best.

I used some super cheap super glue gel tonight and it worked great. I wanted to peg a texas rig weight and turn it i to a florida rig.

locktite gel, grey bottle with a blue lid. I use it for keeping Zman baits where I want them on my rigs. 

Living in Florida I'm not quite sure what a Florida rig is.  I use plastic swimbaits just about daily in both fresh and saltwater, just haven't seen the need to glue one on a jig head or on an EWG hook.  I only use glue when tying. 

Florida rig = Texas rigged with bullet weight pegged to the hook. No need for glue in my opinion.

Zap-A-Gap works well. However, I've never found a super glue that wouldn't work. This particular one is available at a local hobby shop nearby. The kind of shop that deals in miniature trains and planes. Problem with most super glues is the nozzle plugging up after the first use. I keep a small, crappie jig with the hook straightened out, rubber banded on the bottle to alleviate this problem.

A bobber stop is ideal as you can adjust it up and down the line if you like.

The screw in weights are also available if you'd rather go that route, just rig the plastic a little higher above the hook eye.

I agree also that I would not normally use glue for this application, but alas dark was coming soon and it was the quickest solution for me at the time. I already had a texas rig tied on and knew the glue would dry while I walked from my house to the nearby pond.

 

That being said I don't ever see myself spending the extra money for a screw on florida weight, not when I can use a bobber stop etc.

I prefer the gorilla gel myself. The lock tight is not bad either.
