what line for my spinnerbait/squarebill combo?

Whatever you're comfortable with.  Just know that light mono that is recommended for cranks isn't a good choice for spinnerbaits.  That large, single hook is difficult to set with 10lb. mono.  Go too heavy and you kill the action of your crank.  I'd suggest a minimum of 20lb braid or 12lb. FC.

either would be a compromise and not ideal for either presentation and still function satisfactually.

My Excalibur silver thread seems to cover all my fishing. I use the 10lb. Excalibur silver thread line. With my crankbaits I use the 8lb Excalibur thread line.

I use 14 lb Berkley XT for my shallow cranks and spinnerbaits early in the year.  Once the weeds come up my spinnerbaits get 17lb.

I will fish a 1/4 ounce spinnerbait on as light as 10 pound mono, usually 12 - 14 though. Bigger, heavier baits can be thrown on heavier line up to 20 pound test for mono.

I've seen Pros on YouTube say that that use heavy line for Squarebills because they want to control the depth and they are throwing their Squarebills in and around cover.

Over the yearsI have tried different lines for spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Up North in the 1970's I mostly used 14# mono. After moving to FL I tried the 14# mono as well as 15# Flouro and 50#  and 30# braid. I was not impressed with Flouro. It was stiff in colder weather (50 to 60 degrees) and coiled a lot. It was expensive and had to be changed frequently. Next I went to braid which I felt was unforgiving and resulted in many missed strikes due to its extreme sensitive nature. Finally I went back to what worked before and now use mono. The size of the fish and density of the cover will probably dictate the strength of the line you should use, I used 17# test for a while and now use 20# test. It works great with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. It is fine for crankbaits since getting deep is not an issue in most places I fish.

Since I always fish SBs in heavy cover I would never use line testing less than 14# , North or South.

I use 14 lb Sunline Reaction FC and I love it!

Tough to beat PLine CXX in 15lb test

I use 20# sifix tritanium for sb's

definitely 15lb fluoro, great line for both apps just dont toss your spinner into heavy cover

Another vote for 12-14# mono. I generally use Trileptal or PLine.

I go with either 12 lb Berkley Trilene XT or 12 lb 100% Fluorocarbon. 

I am a big fan of 15-20lb Maxima Ultragreen.  12 lb works just fine for light cover or lighter baits!  Yo zuri in the same sizes is great too!

12# mono for spinnerbaits and 10-17# FC for squares.

No sense in spending the extra cash for floro unless your fishing ultra clear water. Mono is perfect and I suggest 17lb Sufix elite clear mono. Very strong and knots seat very well with it.

I would go 12 - 15lb fluoro. I use Seaguar InvizX
