Spare Spools

Featured Replies

I want to get a 2nd spool for my Chronarch 200e7 so I can have 1 with braid and 1 with flouro, because the rod pulls double duty as a jig rod and frog rod.  Does anyone sell them or should I just call shimano?  I don't need any fancy high $$ spools.

Call shimano, perhaps they are cheaper than the D model spools were, I paid 50$ for my spare spool right after the Release.

Yeah I figured it would about that much.

called shimano $34 shipped.

Great idea. I want to get three spare spools for my tournament pros. $50 a spool, but 25% off if you spend over $100.

Why is it my $150-200 spinning reels come with a spare spool but my $200-400 baitcasters don't?

Baitcast spools require a lot of machining and precision to be made.

From the website, the E6 spool seems the be the cheapest out of the Curado E7/E5, Citica 200E, Chronarch E5/E7 spools. You can double check if you wish.

While that might be true the difference in the cost between spinning and casting would off set tooling and make it equal in my mind.  Any way I was really just thinking out loud when I asked that.  I would like to hear Bantam1 's answer if he still frequents these forums.

Spinning reel spools don't have bearings, breaking systems ( weight balance components in case of centrifugal braking systems like Shimano or rotor and inductors in magnetic braking systems like Daiwa ) , nor spool shaft, That is why a baitcaster spool costs a lot more than a spinning reel spool. Spinning reel spools only have drag washers.
