Ok your heading out to a river or lake youve never fished.  You are at bass pro and you need to stock your new tackle box because all your tackle got stolen.  you know nothing about this lake or river accept what you can see when you get there.  What all would you get to fish with type of lures, colors, weights, hooks? 

Some small crankbaits, and some 2" soft plastic minnows. The minnows are for catching panfish to see what the fish are eating, once i know that, I will choose the crankbait that best matches the panfish that I have caught.

2 packs of 5" senkos (1 watermelon, 1 junebug)

2 packs of Rage Tail baby craws (1 Bama Craw, 1 black/blue)

Rapala DT 4 & 6 in Perch color

Storm Chugbug 2.5" in Tennessee Shad color

1/4 oz tungsten weights

4/0 Gamakatsu EWG hooks

2/0 Lazer Sharp straight shank bait holder hooks (for wacky rigged senkos)

Senko, Watermelon Red Magic or a similar natural color. Rigged weightless on a 4/0 EWG.

White/Chartreuse Spinnerbait, one with double willow blades and one with a Willow/Colorado.

Squarebill cranks, one in chartreuse/black, one craw colored.

Spook JR, Bone color.

 

I feel confident I could catch fish on just about any body of water with those baits.

3/8 oz jig Black Blue and PB&J colors

Zoom chunk trailer - black/blue sapphire, and orange craw/pumpkin color

2 Packs of 5" Yamamoto senkos - Green pumpkin/Amber Laminate, and Black/Blue or PB&J depending on what I see first

Pack of Gamakatsu 2/0 Weedless Hooks (for Senkos)

Wacky Rig tool and O-Rings

Z-man Chatterbait Chart/White, and Green Pumpkin/other natural color

Squarebill Crankbait Golden Shiner, and Bluegill or Shad colors

Live Target Baitball - Natural/Bluegill color

 

Pretty much what I use at every new lake/river I ever go to. Occasionally a spinnerbait thrown in the mix, and top water frogs during the summer but I don't always take these to new bodies of water. 

Is the BPS store fairly close to the lake? I would see if any of the staff, or heck maybe even other customers in the bass tackle aisles have fished that lake. They might be able to recommend something.

That aside, seems like you can't go wrong with white on most lakes. Even if they don't have shad. So DD and square bill cranks, some sort of swimbait, dbl willow spinnerbait, and stickbaits. Again, all in white. I'd also get green pumpkin and black/blue in crawfish imitating soft plastics. Also perhaps green pumpkin stick baits, and as I'm finding out, finesse worms. Of course all the necessary terminal tackle as well.

I have extra of everything hanging on my pegboards at home. While it would suck big time, I have back ups that would prevent me from having to go buy all new stuff

That's an easy one, I fish the same baits, bass are bass everywhere.

I'm not sure what baits I'd purchase, but  a  topo map of the lake would be tops on my list.   Otherwise, I'd go with;

2 different style top water baits, 2 different weights of spinnerbaits-jigs-worm weights, 5in. Senko, 6in. worm, jig trailer, hooks in 2/0&4/0, a shallow and deep running crank, Mepps spinner and a 3/8oz. lipless crank.
