6'6" Mh Mod Fast Rod Application

Featured Replies

Was wondering what your opinions are on the application I should be using the below rod for. It is an older baitcasting setup I picked up off Craig's List a few years back and I would like to start using it a little more.

Fenwick HMX 6'6" MH Mod Fast with a Shimano Cruxis (6:4:1ish I think). 1/4 - 1 1/4 oz & 10-25lb.

If this rod was a little longer, I would probably pair it up with deeper running cranks, but being 6'6" is there something else I could use it with closer to shore or around the docks?

FYI- Other than this setup, the rod I use for cranks is 7' Med Mod.

Thanks for any input!

I'd be using it for spinnerbaits, chatters, and swimjigs. Topwaters too!

Thanks for the input guys! Exactly what I was looking for.

Target casting lipless. Would work good for 1.5-2.5 square bills if you are trying to get them into some tight spots, but I prefer a 7-7'4 for square bills.

Jerkbaits, top water, shallow-med cranks, rattle traps

What he said.

Great rod for larger jerkbaits, square bills, topwaters, and lipless cranks along with spinnerbaits.

Spinnerbaits!!!
