i use mono or braid.  they both float so it doesn't deter from the action.

I prefer braid for my topwaters, I use 20-30lb mostly but when fishing frog poppers or something like that I'll go to 50-60lb

Just beware that on bait casting gear 20lb braid can dig in a good bit causing difficulty in casting when using lures that require a bit of force setting the hook or require drag being set high.

Treble hooks = monofilament line. I like #12 Sunline Super Natural.

I'll stick to my 12lb Trilene Big Game mono. I want to try some other brands, but I've always used big game and it works fine for me.

I have used Mono forever but after loosing three Duo Realis poppers in the last two weeks to Pike and larger bass burying down in the weeds, I'm going to try 40 lb PowerPro that I just picked up on clearance for $9.99. I love those Duo Realis poppers. They are by far the best poppers I've used. The problem is they are $13.99 each. I'll have to be patient with the hook set or I know I'll end up pulling the popper away from the bass.

Whats the difference between the big game and regular trilene?

Yup, 12 lb big game or 14 lb silver thread.

Not sure. I don't believe I've ever tried the regular Trilene. When I get my spinning setup I plan to try some Berkely IronSilk though.
