There are some real good, realistic looking craws available that look so much like the real thing. I have several different brands and have caught some bass on them. But the "chunks" or craw imitators such as Paca craws and a few others seem to outfish the real looking ones by far. I can't figure that out. Does anyone else have the same results?

yup, i've never caught anything on a "realistic" looking craw, but i've caught many on craws that are basically half worm, half craw.

Ya dude, Paca Craws put all other craws to shame. However, the Yum Crawbug has bailed me out in a tournament and gave me lunker for tournament. Gotta love pitching craws around laydowns, rip raps, and brushes.

I myself, have pitched just about every size of realistic...  They don't work well...  I have a problem even hooking them properly on a hook, Texas rigged, properly...  I have an issue with the tail causing the lure to go, "wonky" in the water!  A real craw has a stiff tail, so it doesn't do that.  I find that, if thrown, and moved just right, you can get a tube tailed craw to work, just great!    Depends on the color combo, time of day, and weather, of course!  

Netbaits Paca series of craws and chunks are one of the best bait series out there.  Something about the swimming motion of the claws really gets the fish.

The YUM Craw bug or MadMan Crawtube are great on Crigs with EWG hooks.  These are one of my club member's favorites for Crigging.

GYCB Fat Baby Craws might be the answer. I especially like them for jig trailers.

I bought some of the MadMan craws when they first came out and they looked so good I thought I was going to kill the bass. But boy what a disapointment. How are you rigging and fishing those?

Wickyman maybe you have the answer. Maybe they just have really bad action in the water. They may look natural but don't swim that way.

I use a Gene Larew's Salty Hawg Craw as Jig Trailer/Texas Rig & I don't think there is any bait that looks less like a craw than these.

I have caught the most fish with Zoom craws. I like the Ultravibe speed craw and the lil critter craw on a C-rig alot. Good flipping baits too.The Lil critter is awesome on small jigs too. Check out the new Super speed craw, its got bigger claws thant the ultra-vibe. . Preston CLarke won the Elite series even at Santee Cooper last year w/ a t-rigged big critter claw sight fished.

I use the Zoom Ultravibe Craw on a t-rig and I have had pretty good luck with it.  I use some of the other plastic craw baits as trailers.

The only way myself and the guys in my club use the crawtube baits like the MadMan or YUM Crawbug is on a Crig and then, we only use the smaller 2 1/2" sizes.   Being a tube, they have a nice slow drift when you pause the Crig.  The watermelon and green pumpkin colors have been really good.

Blue Streak, I was a Rep.for Mad Man for 5 years so maybe I can help. The craw tubes are real good as a jig trailer. The tubes work real good for me on a shaky head or as Brad said on a C-rig. I do better with the Mad Man craw worm fished by itself,but don't give up on the tubes.It could be the colors you are using or how you are fishing them.If you don't have fath in the bait you are using,you will not fish it the way it should be fished.It is like that for any bait. I am a big fan of the Yum Crawbugs, they are my #1 jig trailer, and are also great on a mojo rig or drop shot. I also use the yum chunk as a jig trailer, but am not all that impressed. I have soem paca chunks to try this year. Also have just bought soem Yum craw papi's, paca craws, and berkely chigger craws to try.

I use yumcrawbugs t-rigged and they work really good on beds and during prespawn as the water is warming up. For trailers I use yum or zoom chunks, never given paca chunks a chance but will have to try them soon.
