Anyone ever try a double shot? I just tied a 2 hook drop shot with one Hook about 11inch and one 27inch. Some times it seems like the bass want a long leader and some times short so why not both. But the the baits could be anything, the bottom could be a brush hog rigged right by the weight for a Texas rig and drop shot on the same pole. Seems like the possibilities are endless. Any one ever tries this?

Yep. Don't mix weed less with open finesse hooks - two different hook sets with no way to know which got bit. The thing I don't like is the kink on the tag end of the first Palomar. Be careful tying up, or you'll be heart broken.

Sabiki rig, nothing new. Instead of using a fly you use a bait.

On a sabiki rig, the flies are on short leaders, off the main rigging. With that setup, you lose the direct contact with the bait. Similar, but it's purpose is to get lots of bait, fast. Sort of the vertical version of an umbrella rig.

Avoid that all together, and use VMC spinshots. You can stack up as many as you want, and nothing will be tied on a tag end.

Just tried dropshottin finally rhe other day and was quite sucessful. The spinshot hooks are nice and very sharp! I didnt have any line twist issues either

Depending on the size of fish you are catching you might want to up your line.  From 8lb to 10lb for example.  If you double up chances are together they will snap your line.

 

Had this happen with a tube/drop shot combo I was using.  Felt like a double ... saw one ... guess you know the rest of the story.  

No practical reason not to do when/where legal. I have never done it because typically when I am drop-shotting it's because conditions call for more of a finesse presentation, and those conditions usually mean you need to have your senses in tune with your bait. The more I have hanging off of you your line, the more difficult that is for me. If I did do it, it would only be with two identical hooks for the reasons J Francho pointed out, and the Spin Shots ww2farmer mentioned might be a good choice to ensure reliable knots. When I've use similar rigs for the purposes of catching bait, I've just tied a few 'looper knots' along the line, but bait catching is a different situation.

That's a great idea farmer. Why the heck didn't I think of that?
