Spinning Rod Help

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a spinning rod around 7ft.in length to use for shaky heads, senkos, smaller plastics, and once in a while to throw lighter crankbaits to a max. of 1/2 oz. but usually 3/8 oz.

In addition, I'd like to use this same rod in the late fall and winter to walleye jig in open water. Again, with 3/8 to a max. of 1/2 oz. jigs with grub trailers.

About $350 is my top range price wise. I am looking at the Dobyns DX703. Does anyone fish this rod and if so, what is your impression? Other suggestions?

The initial applications you listed would be fine. I use my 703 for those minus the cranks, but I imagine I could handle them in a pinch. 1/2 oz jigs with a grub though might be a bit much, but I haven't tried them.

Overall, I really like the rod. I use it a lot skipping senkos in my kayak.

Check out the Duckett micro magic  DFMM70M-S-B $169 this one has the full length cork grip they also offer it with a split grip I have several of the Micro Magic rods and absolutely love them.
