What are some better than average choices for reckless cranking? Anything you're using that takes the abuse and seems to not want to stick to everything it touches? Preferably catches fish as well. I suppose I haven't found the nads to toss hardbaits into brush and whatnot as of yet, but it's time. I'm looking for something that can be fished fast and crazy that costs nine bucks or less. Looking at the Evolve Soul 5 and 6th Sense flat and square at the moment. Also the R2S Biggie cranks.

 

The 6th Sense baits have been very good for me this season; both the 50x and the Flat 75x.

 

The Larger 75x is presented as a cold water bait but I've been taking larger than average size bass with it All Season.  The baits beefier profile & subtle rattle seem to be an effective combination.  By controlling the speed of the bait according to the water temp / mood of the fish the bait just keeps producing. 

 

And to answer your question - both come through cover very well. 

 

These baits are offered in a wide array of dynamite color patterns and at a most reasonable price. 

 

And as an additional note several very stout Mexican Bass were choking that 75x this spring as well.

The River2Sea Biggie is a great squarebill, consistently runs true and produces fish for me

H2O CRS and KVD 1.5, they are affordable and a great squarebill.

Never had one break under the water but I have cracked them from accidently hitting the boat or something hard during my cast...

Bomber square A's are good too, they are a tad smaller and have smaller hooks, they are more compact and run a little tighter than the KVD, a good choice for your needs.

The bomber square A is awesome, as are the KVD 1.5s. Don't overlook Norman Fat N's and Mad N's.

Acadamy CRS and CRM. Work great, good colors, and cheap so you wont be afraid to throw it in the thick stuff.

Wordens Lures - Timber Tigers  - IMO nothing better at coming through brush and trees.  For standard square bill tactics, I use a DC 8, but there are other sizes available

I've tossed a KVD 1.5 into rocks on the shore multiple times with no real damage. Probably just lucky on my part but I will continue to fish them hard. They work well for me.

I throw xcalibur 100 & 200 in rocks as well, they are tough crankbaits and do the job.

Bill Norman Fat Boy. They're easy to cast at almost a half ounce, made of balsa, premium hooks and at around $6 won't break the bank. The paint job also rocks.  For a balsa bait, they really stand up to the abuse they get.  The Fat N and Footloose by Bandit are decent plastic cranks

These are my favorite in the under $9 category. The H20's are great baits for the money also.

Ditto, bang my bomber square a's and kvd 1.5 off of docks all the time...great little baits especially bombers durability for your buck...and they catch fish

Bandit 100 and 200 series cranks. They're cheap, catch fish, and only thing that gets through a tree easier is a squirrel.

 

Academy squarebills are also cheap baits that fish through cover very well and catch a ton of fish. 

Anything but a LIVETARGET.  I love the graphics and colors of them, they are beautiful crankbaits, but the bills are pretty bad.  3rd cast, banged it against a rock and the bill broke.

 

I like the KVD squarebills and the SK Series 1XS, 1 and 4S, not too expensive, not too cheap, just right.

Haven't tried this one yet, but it's getting very favorable reviews.

I like SK stuff. Of coarse the KVD squarebills, but the series 1, and 4s are great baits too.
