Need info for worm molds

Featured Replies

I would like to make some plastic worms, but I want the "senko" style design which is a truely round worm. Since they require a 2 piece mold, I hear i need to use a injector or plunger to put the liguid in the mold. Any special type of injector I should look for?

Has anyone made these and can recommend a place to buy the molds? I found one company but their mold only has one cavity which will take a long time to make a small batch.

Del-mart.com

bobstackleshack.com

lurecraft.com

I don't use an injector for any of the molds including sticks.

janns netcraft has stick molds also and injectors

I just read on another site that injectors are extremely dangerous and to avoid because of the very real possibilty of getting burned badly by the hot plastic and the injector melting.

I then checked Del-Mart and they said you don't need a injector with their molds so I think I will give them a try. Anyone buy from Del Mart before?

that is some helpfull Info . Thanks.

Yep sure have,  Del is a great guy.  I have a few of his molds,  senko, frog, and a beaver molds.  Soon to more.  I'm looking at the ds worms and a couple others.  Need $ though.

They have great accessories like coloring and glitter too.  I'm satisfied with what I have bought from him so far.

I bought del's senko mold. It is an aluminum cast 3 cavity. I had problems with the baits ending up with an air pocket in them. I contacted del and he said to heat the mold in the oven first so that the plastic doesn't cool when it touchs the sides of the mold. I tried that and it worked great except it took 15 minutes for the mold to cool to the point I could pull the baits out. Anyone else have this problem and hopefully a solution?

Thanks

Brett

Pour part way in each cavity (80 percent) and top off after a short delay. 300 degree plastic has no problem fusing to cooler plastic in the cavity. If a bubble occurs, cut off the bubble end, place the stick back in the cavity and pour to the top.

LC has silicone full-round stick molds. Ask Kim for details. Price is under $15 vs. metal, which goes for over $100. LC has good plastic and great service and is very comparable to M-F in price and shipping. Del's plastic has been inconsistent in quality.

about lurecraft's fully round molds....

First off I will say that I love lurecraft's service, selection, and in general there molds.  However I must say that I found there fully round senko's a real pain to pour and I also got burned the worst I have ever been with plastic trying to pour a fully round senko.  That  being said, it did pour after I got the hang of it, it didn't look as nice as aluminum, but if you are really careful it may be the mold for you.  I'm just saying be careful.  The mold looks like a tube (cylindrical) and it has a air vent at the bottom.  Plastic will come out of the air vent...hence my burnt hand ( I spilled a little through it, jumped and then poured a stream onto my hand).  Maybe it's just dumb luck that this happened to me.  Again I will repeat, order from lurecraft, they are great people, have great stuff, amazing selection, quick shipping, all of the things you would want in a seller, just please use caution with these particular molds.

Lurecraft is who I was going to suggest.  I'm putting in my FIRST order to start making my own plastics and Lurecraft is who I'm ordering from.

Service and product reliability has gotten so much better since Poor Boys took it over.

They solved the problem of their plastic and I'm ordering my usual 5 gallons; my angler buddy, who sells plastics and goes through $1000/yr. is ordering their 55 gallon drum.

M_F is on par with service, quality of products, wide selection and shipping charges.
