Large hook jig molds

Featured Replies

I'd like to make some ball head jigs in 1/8 and 1/4 oz but with a larger hook, perhaps a 2/0 or 3/0 for both sizes.  The Do-it molds seem to be made for a smaller hook.  Can these molds be modified for larger hooks or is there an alternative?

You can alter the mold with a dremel tool.  Or you can get a custom mold made from George at In-shore tackle out of NY. It will be made of silicone and good for 1000-4000 pours.

I modify molds all the time with a dremel.  I pour a 1/16 oz ball jig with a 4/0 Owner light wire hook.  Took my PB Smallie with this jig, 6 1/2 lb.

You can modify do-it molds with a dremel, sand paper or small file. I pour 1/8oz jigs on a 4/0 heavy wire flippin hook so I know it works.

I use a 4/0 regular wire hook in the 1/4oz production mold and put a hook in every other hole works great. I have used the same hook in a 1/8oz and had dremiel it very little.

Nice looking jigs.  Are those Barbarian hooks?  The hooks with the eye turned 90 degrees look interesting, are they pretty common?

Does anyone have a name and number where I can get a custom mold made.  I'm looking for a 3/16 darter head mold and a 3/16 drop shot (round) mold.

Thanks

shawn collins.  They talk about his molds alot on Tackle underground.  Thats the gentlemans name I see come up the most.

Nice jigs guys.

I think Do it molds came out with a mold this year for round heads with bigger hooks.  I could be wrong though.

shawncollinscustoms.com  but be prepared to wait and a custom mold is $100+ but he does great work.

George at In-Shore Tackle makes custom Silicone jig molds for $35.00. They are good for 1000-4000 pours and usually come in 4 cavities.

George Kellar is the guy I dealt with.  You can also buy the silicone from Polytek in PA. They have a trial size for about $125.00 and I got about 8 molds from that size...with enough leftover to do about 3 or 4 more. Thre is a learning curve to making the molds though.  Iwill say that george's are pretty darn good.  You might have to modify them if you give him a sample that is NOT exactly what you want.
