Yo-Zuri Hybrid Dissapearing?

Featured Replies

I see many sites that have plenty of it.

Yo-zuri does not seem to be ending things as I initially thought. They still feature Hybrid and UltraSoft on their web site. Now this doesn't mean Hybrid isn't ending or getting upgraded, a new formula, whatever.

I also picked some 600 yards of 6lb green Hybrid on eBay with free shipping from a buyer with 100% rating, $10. There was cheaper out there, but this is what I picked.

P-line Floroclear is still a go-to line for me, but I've been back to using Hybrid in 4, 6, and 8 lately. I prefer Floroclear 10# - 15#.

Since it's all leader material for me, 600 yards will last me a looooong time.

Personally P-line never will and dosent compare to hybrid, two different levels of quality, I've had the worst experiences with line with P-line than any other ive used. It seemed to just break so easy and the abrasion resistance also sucks

I'm giving McCoy coplolymer a try, Ive heard nothing but good things

Which line, Mike?  CXX > Hybrid in break strength per diameter and abrasion resistance.  By a long shot.  Fluoroclear....meh, not so much.  Hybrid > CXX in terms of ease of "handling" and memory.

Fortunately I've had nothing but great experiences with Floroclear. Aware others have not. I probably won't venture far from YZH and Floroclear except for pure fluorocarbon (which I have several spools of - XPS). Have tried other brands of copoly, but keep returning to the aforementioned two. And I've now got a lot more YZH than Floroclear, LOL.

Both Yo-Zuri Hybrid and P-line CXX #15 have a .016" diameter. P-Line is approximately 40% stronger

than specified, i.e., #15 = 21 llb breaking strength vs Hybrid #15 = 21.5 or about the same. However,

#12 Hybrid is MUCH more manageable and with a breaking strength of 19.5 lbs, a MUCH better choice.

The only experience I have with floroclear as a mainline is 20# on my Avet mxj for offshore fishing.  There is an issue, that being sometimes I have had to tie more than 1 knot as some of the knots have broken.  Once I had a good knot I had no problem in landing pelagic fish.  The line was not used for a cast and retrieve, but for drifting and light trolling.

I have about 700 yds of it, I'm using the floroclear as bass and inshore leaders attached to my braid, it's working quite well for that.

Loved buying the bulk spools to use as backing. Very disappointing...
