Do You Catch More From Bank Than Boat?

Featured Replies

Snook I am not sure you got what I was saying. When I fish for salt water fish the boat is a must.  LMB on the other hand, I catch my biggest bass when I am on shore, usually from driving to a spot and parking and walking to where I cast. If you did get what I was saying, then I missed it :)

I totally understood.  The big advantage to a boat is I can fish a canal for miles, rather than being limited to 1/2 mile of walking.  Right now my best bass are coming from community ponds, they are not big and easily walked, this is the nature of my area.  Pond fishing from shore is really my favorite way of fishing, plus I can use lighter tackle, ponds here do not have a lot of vegetation.

Saltwater is different.   Since many fish follow the bait it can be a waiting game being on shore for the fish to show up, they may stick around for 30 minutes or only 30 seconds.  In a boat we can follow the fish, big advantage.  I do have to say I enjoy fishing off the beach more than anything, but I do catch less.

It depends on the body of water I am fishing, but usually, I catch more in a boat.

i guess it depends on where you are fishing. I pretty much fish from shore all the time, and many of the best fishing lakes around here you have a large % of the body of water surrounded by private property. So you need a boat or you are pretty restricted. Other spots I fish like some ponds I can walk all the way around and hit just about any part of the pond. Like jfrancho said, even just to have a boat to access other parts of the bank would be very beneficial and certainly result in more fish caught from many of the large lakes around me.

depends on time of year. in fall i can catch quite a few from the bank. but the rest of the year its boat. and usually a boat can put you on better quality fish too.

For LMB its about even but I catch more big bass from shore, usually after I beached my boat. Why? stealth.

When I fish for saltwater bass its 1000 to 1 in favor of the boat

Pretty much the same, I'm subject bail out of the boat at anytime!

Growing up on Louisiana/Texas coast I've walked many a marsh hunting/fishing.

As for saltwater the hottest thing around here is wadding for Specks & Reds!
