The Mind Of Raider

We have decided to start my 6 year old in some form of martial artsy stuff. The former old lady and the new old lady are in favor of juvenile mma type training. I honestly have no idea what its called. I like the idea of him learning from my buddy. Who was a hand to hand instructor for the USMC. Most likely those two will win out this argument. Actually 98% sure they will.

Thus ends the first edition of The Mind of Raider.

Chances are he would learn a lot from your buddy. As CC combat training around the world. Is based on Muay thai and BJJ. Instead of taking years to learn it. They get only a hand full of months. They are also taught to kill. While modern day Muai thai and BJJ are not taught that way.

Even when BJJ was invented 100 years ago. Carlos Gracie did not invent it to kill. It was more for self defense. As he grew up in a poor city in Brazil, and his small size. He felt he needed to do some thing to protect him self. With proper training in joint manipulation, pressure, and chokes. The victim could break a bone, dislocate a joint, or choke a person out. In reality the point of BJJ. Is to cause enough pain to your attacker. So that they give up, and run away. Not to kill them.

Well, Hmm, a choke hold is or can be very deadly & quick too, even a weaker person can perform this, if, they know exactly how to apply it.

Raider, I thought you were depressed after the Honda episode...lol.. These girls are training your son to attack you! Don't do it. No seriously, now is a great time to begin his training, I agree..

When I read the title of the thread I expected to open up a blank page. ;)

The mind of Raider?  Now that's an oxymoron!

I'm all for being able to defend ones self and there are many ways to do it. If the youngster likes to tussle take a look at wrestling. It's a great sport that teaches discipline, determination and could lead to a college scholarship. I wrestled for quite a few years and the major thing you have to watch out for is a couch encouraging a kid to cut major weight.

I say pit the Martial arts instructor against your pal.  Winner teaches your child.

Please videotape the combat and put up here for us to enjoy.

Save time and money.  Get your son one of these.  Grown men have been known to flee from its presence.

It gets no better than that right there

Hahaha BJJ is designed to cause enough pain to make them run away? More like break their arm at the elbow or cut off circulation to their brain.

But I agree 100% that BJJ is defense and not offense in most applications.
