Swim Senkos. .....  I know you can catch on them.

I was never convinced of that.  They seemed to have such a tiny speed window, at least for me, that they were nearly unfishable.  Too fast and they plane or roll; too slow and there was little/no action.  I found them to be too much work trying to get them to do what I wanted.

Buzzbaits and hard body jerkbaits

Chatterbaits and spoons. Surprising since I have had a few decent days on a silver buddy and I see spoons and blade baits as being similar lures, but the only thing I ever hook up with on a spoon is a white bass.

Wow, I can't believe some of these responses. For me it has always been beetle spins. I buy a beetle spin bait about once a year. Now I have a ton of them. I think I have caught about 2 fish on them over the years.

 I've given up on those big jigs with weed guards.  I caught a few bass in 2013 on them but I used them a lot after soft plastics and the I think I only caught two bass on those jigs the whole season.  I don't think I used them any at all in 2014.  Probably not going to use them in 2015 either.  

I never get bit on a buzzbait anymore, I used to love them as a kid, but I never even try anymore....I like double prop topwaters instead, I still try cause they do catch larger fish, but with all the fishing pressure, I am finding success using lures and colors and sounds, modifications to make all my lures look differrent and so far I like the results....My OCD is kicked in and I love dressing treble hooks now, I actually just did a few Long A's with all 3 hooks dressed, but I had a few strikes this evening while I let it sit for 30 seconds with the front hook dressed up and also red....I am also chaning alot of my last treble hooks for willow blades, and making my rattle traps weedless, or more weedless...Oh, I can't catch fish on the Gunfish, but they look awesome in the box...

You got to be kidding me! That is my all time go to bait. If nothing else is working I throw my ul spinning gear with a beetle spin and it ALWAYS produces...

Haha, these replies are very interesting and revealing.  As most others have said, I am surprised by some of the posts too.  Just goes to show there is no cookie cutter approach to fishing!

Spinnerbaits.....nothing but pike and muskie for 10 years and counting.  

 

I've since made up some custom jobs over Thanksgiving break, smaller profile 7/16oz head with thin wire, changed blades to slim #4 and 3.5 double willows painted white/chartreuse, added trailer hooks, custom skirts to match the blades... gonna give them another shot next season. (I'm trying to unlock the "burning" technique for smallies.) 

Spinnerbaits have been my weak point, but I have high hopes for the MegaStrikes (double colorado) I just bought. I landed a nice 1 1/2lber last week but it was the first time I used a trailer with it as well. That maybe what I have been missing. Since my chatterbait only get hit with trailers I put on one and it woked. Bass in my pods are really picky.

The spinnerbait comments are surprising to me as they are my strong point.  I caught the 8 lb. pass in my picture on a big colorado spinnerbait a few weeks ago.  Everyone has what works for them...

I can remember when there was a time when a lot of baits were like this for me.

Didn't have a jig bite til a nice 2.5lber showed me why they work.

I crossed off Spinnerbaits and Lipless cranks the same day when the fish were nailing them.

Chatterbaits this year when the water was murky and the fish hit them hard.

As of today, I can't remember ever catching one on a buzzbait (maybe when I was a kid and learning how maybe), and the A-rig. No fish on them yet, but I will keep trying because I know they can and will catch fish. Well I'll keep trying the A-rig in certain situations. I may have to force myself to pick up a buzzbait because I would MUCH rather throw a frog.
