Some Won't Remember

I was just reading an article in an old Bassmaster magazine, where a spinnerbait blade is described as half dollar sized. Wonder how many younger people on here have never even seen a half dollar.

What about those funny quarter sized dollars....Susan B Anthony's.  But very true, probably not many.

I have one it's pretty neat. That and one of the Susan b anthonys your talking about.

  • Super User

... not quite as neat as a 1921 Morgan silver dollar, or bi-centennial Eisenhower dollar, or 1964 Kennedy 1/2 dollar, or liberty 1/2 dollar, a one dollar silver certificate, or a 1928 $2 bill.  Hang on to those Susan B. Anthonys, you've got something to show your grand kids someday.

I can still remember those. LOL... Didn't they introduce the gold dollar coin a little while back? Every once in a blue moon i come across $2 bills too.

The local hardware store gives out half dollars as change. I think they do it just to be different.

That is awesome!  I love when people/places do small stuff like that, just to be different

Eisenhower coins are still around, $2 bills are starting to become rare

You don't live near a race track do you.  If you want to give yourself a good laugh, pay for a $1 soft drink at McDonalds with a $2 bill and watch the cashier's reaction.

I still have my silver dollars and half dollars my grandpa gave me when I was little. Planning on giving them to my son when he gets a little older.

I'm into coins, so yes I have seen one but they don't pop up all over the place. They ought to make a special edition with different species of bass :).

I've got a nice stack of Kennedy silver dollars.  Some are worth $5 each or more.

Ask you're bank.  They can get you all the $2 bills you want.  A few years ago I got $200 worth, and stuffed them into gift envelopes for the holiday season.

The two-dollar bill has more iterations of itself prior to 1966 than any other US currency bill.  1966 - 1977 it was not printed. The 1977 and newer bills are easily found... the older than 1966 bills are not so easily found...

These are 2 that I have. If you notice, they say 1976. Not sure if this is what you mean.

Got several silver dollars in my stash.

Can't remember where, might've been a

zoo or something where you got dollar

coins from the change machines...

Besides telling our ages, the best part of this thread is the fact that the half dollar is now considered fishing tackle. LOL

When I walk into Bass Pro Shops, a $100.00 bill is considered fishing tackle.

Remember Silver Certificate's?

if you do, you're really old!

I have a few of them stashed somewhere.

I believe I have a Silver Cert $2 bill.  I'm going to have to check when I get home.

I have a friend who has a full, uncut sheet of newer $2 bills.

If that edition is old enough, flip to the back and see what size blades are on Harry & Charlie's spinnerbaits.  Seems like I remember that theirs where as big a Moon Pies.

Hootie... You are absolutely correct, printing of the two-dollar bill was discontinued in 1966 and printing was resumed in 1976.  As the kids today say... my mistake!  Please don't tell my wife, you'll ruin her image of me!

On a side note: I tried to use the word "bad" in place of "mistake" just to be hip... the site wouldn't let me and corrected it???  How did it know I was an old geezer?

This site has a ton of things like that. You can't write "liberaI" either haha (had to use an "i"!) I would love to see the whole list of presto-change-o phrases for sure.
