What brand do you all like? It's time I had a pair but I see many different styles out there.

I change hooks quite a bit and have tried a few different types & styles.

 

The standard Texas Tackle's SSplit Ring Pliers are a Quality and Effect tool. 

 

They cost a little more but they are worth it.

Bass pro shops has a pair that I liked so much, I bought a couple of extras. They're about six bucks. They're the ones that has the wedge come down on top of the anvil, rather than in front of it. Just works so much easier for me.

Get these and you will never buy another brand split ring pliers again, best on the market.

I have the stainless upgrade pair and love them. Texas tackle got this right.

And I like your thinking too Hootie. I would think a pair that had the nub come down onto the bottom jaw would work easier than if it came down in front of it.

It looks like the Texas pliers work the same way.

I make a lot of my own jika rigs and that involves using many split rings.   The Texas Tackle split ring pliers are the best I've found.  You can't wear them out.  They will last until you space them out or until someone steals them.  I have two pairs.   One pair stays in the boat the other in my tackle making box in my shed.

I've got 2 pairs of these Blacktips.  One is on my offshore bag, the curved tip is very good for hook removal of larger fish, they cut braid as well.  Do a fine job on split rings.

I need a pair as well since i find myself changing trebles on my crankbaits more and more. That and im planning on messing with the jika rig this year

^^^Yup. I just placed an order from TW for those and all the stuff to make my own Jikas. I would have bought the pre-made ones but couldn't find the combo I wanted. Just as easy to make them up myself I guess and have the hook/weight combo I prefer.
