Is This Reel Worth 45 Bucks?

Featured Replies

My walmart has one of these new in the box for 45 bucks. They must have found it in the bottom of a display case or something. It's a daiwa procaster rojo 100h. I don't remember seeing these reels when they were new. It looks to be 6 or 7 years old. So what do you guys think? Should I buy it for 45 bucks?

I have not ever owned or fished that reel.

The few I've seen on ebay we're going new for $65 - $75

And the reviews (check link below) look fairly decent.

Yes, it is worth the $45 bucks. I would buy it.

EDIT....For $45 buy it and if you do not like it I will buy it from you (For the $45 and your paid tax) and pay to have it shipped to me.  I feel pretty good that you will love it. You're talking about a reel with a free floating spool and mag force braking with a flipping switch, aluminum frame and brass gears for $45 bucks? Yes, sign me up, see if they have a couple more that I can get lol

EDIT again....it is a little on the heavy side though it weights 9.2 Oz.

I have two of them.  Very nice reels and that is a great price.

My dad really enjoyed his ProCaster reels as well.

I have two of them from nearly 15 years ago, when they were solid black. They don't get used much anymore, but I fished the crap out of them when I was in high school and I know that they will still work if I need them. A good value for $45

I've owned several Procasters in black, blue, orange and silver Capricorn versions, too. Very solid reels. I believe the Rojo had a flipping switch.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up stopping on my way to work and buying it. That old daiwa box caught my eye from a mile away when I first saw it yesterday. While I was there today I also bought two citica e's for 65 bucks and a older trion casting reel for 45 bucks. I'm going back later and see if they found any other reels and put them on clearance.

This walmart has about the worst outdoors department I've ever seen. The guy said these reels were there since they opened. They never even had them on display where they could be seen. They were just piled up in the bottom of one of those tall glass display cases.

Wow that's nuts!

Nice score on the citica e's...

It's definitely worth it.

Yeah, great score. I have one that I souped up with a Curado handle, Curado spool, and carbontex drags and it has served me quite well over the years.

I'm most exited about the trion. Those reels are freaking tanks! I've beat the crap out of one for over five years and it's still going strong.

I'll probably just sell the citicas. Never liked the one's I had, the gears get rough quick.
