Sounds more like a case of someone having sore ones rather than merely deflated!  :Idontknow:

I don't like the Pats, but a deflated ball didn't account for that 45-7 beat down last night.

I think our beloved Chicago bears would have made a better game of it.

Do you need a deflated ball to run through a defense?

Bradshaw and Noll was a pretty good run too in less years....and they won 4 superbowls and didn't have any cheating allegations either.

Because of the first widespread use of roids, the steelers had a huge advantage

My understanding is they used the same balls interchangeably. If the pats receivers gained an advantage It certainly didn't help Luck.

I was under the impression that each team brings their own balls to use on offense and special teams but that not be true.....even though i read it on the internet :)

Read an article earlier that the home team furnishes them? You may be right though as it sounds familiar.

They ran over them? Pats ran 20 more plays than them shows how essential the run game was. I don't imagine a deflated ball would help much in the run game besides hanging on to the ball.

Don't they check before the game?  Maybe Luck used one of those balls when he got that one touchdown.  Or maybe that's why he threw those interceptions.  It was the balls fault we lost.  Last week it was the way they lined up and we weren't quick enough to adjust.  Sounds like just what Brady responded and said last week......"guess we know the rules a little better".  But the deflated ball defense for a def deflated Indy Defense.  I know when it's cold you can loose psi, maybe they all lost air....or maybe because the New England had the ball longer, all the handling of those footballs.  I mean how many times can it take being handed to a 250+ lb running back and shoved down a defenses throat.  Maybe all the weight of the defense trying to stop him caused some of the air to escape.  Either way, Indy got blown out period. Next team please.

The fact that the Patriots didn't need to cheat makes it that much worse. They could have won straight up, but they had to follow the Boston tradition of cheating. They couldn't help themselves. Like the Auerbach led Celtics messing with opposing teams locker room and hotel or the Red Sox playing in that minor league craphole of a stadium, it is in the DNA of Boston sports teams to cheat.

And for the record, the Belicheat Patriots couldn't hold the jockstrap of either the Noll Steelers or the Walsh 49ers. When those teams made it to the Super Bowl, they always won. Not so much for Billy & Tommy...

No proof of cheating,  looking into the accusations of that.

And if Bill and Tom win, they will have the same amount of titles.  Guess you forgot to look at the fact that "Billy and Tommy" have more playoff wins then any other duo, and will have been to the big game more then ANY other Coach/quarterback combo.

Don't hate the Pats just becaue they are that good.  Hate the teams that can't figure out how to stop them.

So if the Patriots cheated by having under inflated balls, is that an advantage or disadvantage? How did they keep track of the affected balls  ... did they have a big red cross on the under inflated balls so the Patriots would  have the "good balls" and the Colts would get the "lousy balls"? The weight of the ball could also be a factor. Since it was pouring out and the balls cover is leather, would some balls weigh more than others? It looked like the ball the Colts were using was a lot heavier than the Pats ball!

Oh ya, a comparison of Belicheck, Noll and Walsh:

Belicheck with Patriots:    Regular Season: 175 - 65     Playoffs:  20 - 8

Noll with Steelers:             Regular Season: 193 - 148  Playoffs: 18 - 8

Walsh with 49ers:            Regular Season: 92 - 59       Playoffs:  14 - 10

All three have pretty impressive numbers!

Just a little side note to this discussion. I used to go bowhunting for deer in western PA from 1974 - 1981 or there abouts. I was always amazed at the football discussions in coffee shops ans restaurants by the locals. In most of the discussions the locals stated that Noll was a lousy coach and Bradshaw was not smart enough to be an NFL quarterback. They loved Franco Harris though (the area was 50 or 75 miles west of State College (PSU)). Funny how peoples perceptions change with time!

Be sure to include those Super Bowl loses in the stats for Belicheat. He was able to accomplish another record, the only NFL team to go 18-1 and NOT win a Super Bowl.

Those 3 Super Bowl wins a decade ago should have been vacated after Spygate...

The Patriots and Coach Belicheck are the only NFL team to go 18-1. Thats a significant accomplishment in my opinion.

Do you know what Spygate was? If you did you would probably understand that it wasn't that big a deal. Most NFL teams were also doing it and didn't even realize it was illegal. The Patriots accepted the penalty because Bob Kraft is a standup guy and wanted to minimize any unfavorable publicity that would fall upon the league.

The 85 Bears went 15-1, shut out both teams in the playoffs and won the Super Bowl. Final record, 18-1

I do include those 2 loses both to New York.  But in order to have 3 wins and 2 loses, you have to make it to the show 5 times.  Oh wait this will be number 6.  What team has 6 apperances with the same coach/quarterback.  Oh I remember......New England.  We both live in S. Cal but lets face it, San Diego just can't be consistant.  We won't even talk about Oakland.  And SF, last time they went was with Steve Young in the mid 90's.  Face it, New England HAS been the dominant football team for the last 10+ years. They do it hurt, the do it healthy, they do it with rookies, they do it with vetrans.  They just know how to win.  When you're that good, there are always people that are going to hate you but wish their team was "just that dam good".

Funny how the Patriots couldn't win a Super Bowl AFTER they were caught cheating, filming other teams practices.  New England fans love to say that it wasn't that big of a deal, but once they weren't allowed to do it anymore, they became the Minnesota Vikings or Buffalo Bills of their generation.  Very good team, just not the best one year after year after year.  New England has been a good team the last decade, but how in the world can you classify them as THE dominant team when they haven't won a Super Bowl in that time period (the last decade)?  The Bills were not THE dominant team in the 90's because they lost all 4 Super Bowls they went to.  Like the Patriots, they were a very good team, just never the best team in any one year.

I have never said the Patriots have not had a good team under Belicheat, what I disagree with is the assessment that the Patriot homers place them among the greatest ever.  Nope, sorry, they don't fit.  The greatest ever teams win every Super Bowl they go to.  The greatest ever teams don't cheat and then pass it off as not a big deal.  The Belicheat Patriots are a level or 2 below the greatest teams ever.  Noll's Steelers & Walsh's 49ers were top of the heap, closely followed by Johnson's Cowboys & Lombardi's Packers.  Belicheat's Patriots fall more in line with Shula's Dolphins or Landry's Cowboys.

Except for the fact that Shula & Landry never got nailed by the league for cheating...

In that case, knock Belicheats Patriots down one more rung to Maddens Raiders.

The way that 85 Bears team won makes it hard to argue that they were not the best ever for a single year.  It took a bunch of Marino bombs on a Monday night game (if I recall correctly) to stop them from going undefeated.
