aside from checking out the new carbonlites i was hoping basspro would have some Avid X in stock. sadly they did not. ive never owned a st croix. how do their mh/f feel? like a broomstick? was gonna try the new avid as my texas rig rod.

Not broomstick, but they feel like some other companies heavy. They still have some tip action compared to something like a Veritas MH, which actually is a broomstick.

I have 3 avids a 66mf great for topwater and jerks a 66mhf I use for spinnerbaits and a 7mf I use for worms and light jigs. All are great rods. The 7mhf's are ltb and elite so I have a lot of there rods and I like them. I don't consider any of them broom sticks.

will probably try one. last year i used a Powell Max 683 for my texas rigs but i think im gonna use it this year for my designated senko rod

I haven't tried a AvidX, I have a previous generation Avid.  They aren't broomsticks, but I agree they fish/fished heavier than my other brands I own.  

The Medium power Avid is in between a M - MH. The Medium Heavy is in between a M/H - Heavy power rod.

They are heavier in power, however the tip action on the Avid's are softer than other companies fast action.

The Avid series are awesome rods for the money.  They are the right balance of all things that I look for in a rod; sensitivity, power, and durability. The Avid X though, I have no idea.

i think with the new X its mostly different components, guides and split grip. i have a gift card to basspro so i reckon ill wait til they hav em in stock

How heavy of a t rig are you going to be throwing. If mostly on the lighter side Id go with a MF over the mh
