What Have I Got Here?

These came with my new Stradic, and I cannot figure out what they

are for. Says instructions are included in the manual, but I find

no mention of them.

Spool spacers. Add 1 or 2 if your line isnt laying correctly on the spool.

Yes, those shims go as needed under the spool. If line stacks on front of spool add a shim, if stacking on rear of spool remove a shim.

They "Allow" you to change the winding shape, based on line types, based on shimanos instruction from the 2000 year instruction document concerning the shims.( Stradic ) Never had a shimano spinner that did not wind evenly from front to rear, suppose it's possible though.

Shims for the spool cause Shimano can't align the wind :D

Diawa includes dryers as well. Just another reason to switch.

The spool shims were started by Shimano back in the early 2000's when fluorocarbon line became more popular. When I bought my first  #2500 series Stradic, I asked the same question. I have a tackle company sales rep who is a good friend and sells Shimano. He did the research and Shimano told him that mono would " lay down on a spool" but  " fluoro" needed to be spooled a different way because ( remember this was in the early life of fluoro) was harder and  wouldn't.  I have 4 packs of those shims in my reel parts box because I ended up buying 4 Stradics. Never put fluoro line on them. Used Trilene XL mono until I discovered Power Pro braid and never looked back.
