Just sitting here listening to jazz on the computer, while watching the snow pile up outside my window.

Supposed to get 8". My lake opens up in 2 1/2 weeks. C'MON weatherman....."KNOCK IT OFF"!!

Nice... we had -40 Celsius temps yesterday. So ready for winter to end.

Not sure what -40 C is, but we had -10 this morning, and snow has accumulated over the 4' mark in my yard, with piles well over 8'. My neighbor has a pile as tall as her house from the plow guy.

Sorry Hootie, not feeling the violin music for you.

The snow doesn't really bother me, but the cold does. The past couple winters have been colder than I ever remember. If I really hated it, I'd figure out a way to move.

Richmond, Virginia scheduled to get between 10 to 14 inches of the white stuff.

We do not have the snow removal equipment the northern guys have.

Local ponds are frozen and the snow on top of the ice makes for a beautiful scene.

Hang in their, J.  You will be rewarded in the spring after the thaw when you go out and catch three personal bests on three successive casts.

That is -40f for us Americans. I can not complain about this winter though. Compared to the last few winters. Last year it was at zero or below for over 52 days straight. With over 40inches of snow at this time last year. This year other then a colder and major snow storms in November. It has been a pretty mild winter. I would say we only have about 10-12 inches of snow pack right now.

John, I seen you post something like this before. Here's a simple conversion you can do in your head, that's easy to remember. It uses a lot of two's. Starting with a C temp, do the following

times two

minus point two

plus 32

So -40 times two = -80

-80 - -8 = -72

-72 + 32 = -40

-40 just happens to be where the C and F scale match.

Try it with +40C

40 times 2 = 80

80 - 8 = 72

72 + 32 = 104

Try 37C which equals 98.6 = body temperature

Can't do decimal points in your head? no problem, round em off. You'll get close enough to have a number you can relate to, which is the point.

We don't have any snow. Not so much as a flurry. Kinda glad I aint shipped up to Boston to work yet. Think I will stay down here for awhile longer. It's a nice warm 35 degrees right now. Yall can keep your negative digits.

  • Super User

Thanks Gary. It doesn't make Celsius any more relevant. Lol.

That's it....I knew it was 2 minus something.

It's too cool here.... 60 in the mornings and 80 to 85 in the daytime! I can hardly handle it!!!

Even here in Florida the mercury is plummeting.

Now they're saying that Friday's temperatures may dip into the 30s!!!

That means a lot of fishing trips will be postponed a couple days, because temps should be back in the 70s by the weekend.

Just saying.

From a guy that worked outdoors in Michigan 30 some odd years, I wear long underwear when it's 60 degrees in Florida.
