What Would You Buy?

Featured Replies

I am going to do some shopping around and want to pick up a bunch of new baits and lures. I'm looking to spend 200-250 dollars in order to do some restocking for the upcoming spring months. If you were me, what all would you purchase? I need a wide range of baits and lures. I have a little bit of everything right now, but could use some reinforcements, especially soft plastics.

My spring list includes:

-Red lipless crankbaits

-Spinnerbaits

-Senkos

-Lizards

-Flukes

-Craws

-Walk-the-dog bait.

-Rebel Minnow

-Lucky Craft Kelly J or another prop bait for over the beds.

I have all of those so far except flukes, lizards, and some red Rat L Traps, which I'll be getting soon. Those should cover your bases.

Son, you are young and you are in Kansas.  Learn how to fish the Ned rig.  Get a medium of the line rod & reel and it will last you the rest of your life.   There are several guys on the Central States forum who fish the Ned rig quite a bit.   Some of them live in Wichita.  Good luck.

This rig is actually one of my personal favorites!

I wont list the baits as i think others have covered that, but i honestly would spend alot of that on terminal tackle. Youre going to want those new shiny lures, but really, good hooks are more important IMO. i dont know maybe you have that covered, but if i have that much to spend i always buy some terminal tackle. Go with Owner too!!

One of the best top water walk the dog lure: Jackall Bowstick 130.  It's tough and the finish will take a beating unlike other cheaper lures.  Worth the money.  Try Ghost Minnow pattern.

^^This for sure^^

The question is, are you already catching fish?  If the answer is yes, why buy anything unless it's a replacement for what's already working.  If the answer is no your are not catching fish, I'd suggest learning to use what you have, by your own admission you have a little bit of everything.  I bass fish with only 5 lures, knowing how to use them is what catches fish.

Yes, I am already catching fish! (although it's slow where I am) It's not so much of a "I need more lures, bait, and terminal tackle," but more of a "I want more lures, bait, and terminal tackle." And, I will be buying more of what I already have that has been effective for me. This is also an attempt to broaden my lure spectrum per se. I just want to learn how to use everything.
