^^ i'm sure the same could be said for minn kota i-pilot....

fluke was making the point about using them for fishing in a lake where the majority of the year bass will be caught in upwards of 20' of water such as hartwell.  given his proximity to the lake (and unneccesary to mention his experience) i would be inclined to believe the man when he says they aren't used for fishing except during the spawn.

Let's build featureless concrete pits with no cover, stock them with a sterile strain of bass that maxes out at 5lbs, regulate the water temperature so it's 65 degrees year-round, make everyone use th

  • If it's not an advantage, then why do it? Clearly, Casey is seeking an advantage here. Yes, it's legal, is it sporting? Nope.. No way... Not in my opinion. Just because a thing is legal, doesn't neces

Fluke doesn't have them on his boat.  Makes sense he doesn't know their other fishing applications then.

Examples of when I use them for fishing other than the spawn

- To hold me in current (I river fish often).  I often position in shallower bars and cast deep.

- To hold me when fishing deeper points. I position the boat shallow and cast deep

- To hold me when fishing in the wind.

- To hold me when fishing deep ledges.  Again, position shallow, cast deep.

- To hold me when fishing weed edges

- When I want to thoroughly work docks, beaver huts, brush piles, etc.

- and so on, and so on, and so on...

My point is that they're not just for fishing the spawn. I already said before that you don't use them in deep water.

^^ yeah all good ways to use them in water that doesn't average 50+ feet deep such as Hartwell, which was the topic of the conversation

in fact for all the reasons you listed above, i would think the i-pilot would be more efficient, but that's just my thinking....

I'm coming a little late to this pary but I have a question for everyone that doesn't think what Casey ( and most of the field) did was very sporting or fair.

How do yall feel about your favorite football team practicing, recruiting, and weight lifting? How do you feel about a coach watching tape to find a team's weakness?

I get the feeling that if your struggling with dropping brush piles, then you might not being seeing bass fishing as a competition.

I'm writing a book.. 50 Shady ways to plant

Brush Piles! C'mon guys! It's over and done.

Get over it already...

Did any one posting about PP on Hartwell ever think that maybe the fisherman who fish that lake also fish a whole lot of lakes where their PP's would be an advantage?

The lake I fish has a average depth of almost 300'. Power Poles would be pretty handy, despite that stat.

Seriously can't believe it's still going....
