Boxing Fans Here? It's On. Mayweather Vs Pacquaio

Everyone is saying that the fight is happening too late in their careers, they're slower, on and on.  I still want to see this fight!

Although anything could happen, I think Pac has a chance to win.  He's looked better in his last couple fights and a win here would set this up for the inevitable rematch.

I don't think Money would take a fight he had a chance to loose. He's ready to retire and he's not going to go out with a loss.

Play by play? I would love to here some highlights and the outcome?

Its here, its just about 5 years too late. Money waited till he knew he could win. He might not can read, but he is smarter than most people give him credit for.

I thought it was Pac who was holding this back. It had some thing to do with drug testing.

Tipptruck1, your mind has been frozen by too many Wisconsin winters. Who really cares about 2 old guys trying to kick the crap out of each other. Think spring and all the good things like wood ticks and mosquitos and suckers running and the ice being gone by late May. Peace my brother of the angle/dangle from Wisconsin.

Well you might be right about that. I also might have some memory loss, but I do remember the drug testing thing. About a 1/4 of way down. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2329287-complete-timeline-of-the-floyd-mayweather-jr-manny-pacquiao-saga

You are right though. I do not care about this fight.

Years to late...don't care

It's like Razor & Kid are stepping off the Big Screen to act out an actual "Grudge Match"

But there may be subtitles involved.

I've been waiting for this fight for years. I think, at this point, it's too close to call. I can see either guy winning, but if you forced me to lay down a bet, I'd have to go with Floyd, in a close 12 round decision.

I won't be buying the PPV. I never do. Just wait a week, and watch for free.

I understand the undercard includes Oscar De La Hoya vs. Sugar Shane Mosely

I'm not a big boxing fan and only watch the big deal matches but if I had to bet I'd put my money on Pac.

Ever since MMA(ufc) got big, I can't watch boxing for more then a few rounds. It just gets boring. Its like a pro fisherman who only knows one technique, with one lure.

Put either of these two in an MMA cage with even a average fighter, and they will likely be stopped within the first round.

"Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it."

George Foreman

I agree with .ghoti. that it's going to be a 12 round decision for Mayweather. Unfortunately watching Floyd perfect the sweet science gets boring fast.   He can scores points on girly shots all day long ('girly' for professional boxers... please don't punch me like that :eyebrows: .  I like Manny's personality better but I'm in complete awe at Floyd's skills.   Pacquiao will take far greater risks and push for a knockout which will be the only entertaining part of the fight. However he has been slow to cut off the ring lately which makes for a boring fight watching him chase Floyd around the ring all night.

I agree this would have been an amazing fight 5 years ago.  Mean aggressive Manny against not as experienced/risk taking Floyd.

Put an MMA fighter of the same weight in a boxing ring with mayweather or PAC and they would get demolished too.

It's two completely different sports. That being said I think MMA is a lot more exciting too.

Same sport to me...fighting, which has evolved with time, credit is due where skill has been learned. Putting a MMA fighter in a boxing match is just putting a big handicap on him/her. Putting a boxer in a MMA cage is just showing who has really learned the art/skill of fighting.

Unfortunately even MMA ratings have gone down with what seems to be a recent lack of compatable fighters, and then a rash of fighters getting caught using PED's.

that's really comparing apples and oranges.  one thing that is certain is that if you put and average MMA fighter in the ring with Pacquiao the only thing the guy is going to be doing is running out of breath followed by a long nap.

this is an amazing film study on how/why Floyd is so brilliant in the ring. he just makes it look too easy. his ring intelligence is unsurpassed.

this guy did a film study on Manny too.  And has a series dedicated to the May 2nd fight

The old fighters always fight beyond their prime,

Ali sure did, Foreman as well. I paid I believe $35 to see Tyson and Spinks in about 88, however I was obtaining beer and pizza ( in kitchen )when 90 seconds later it was all over.. Well I got to see the slow motion rewind! Never will I pay to view a fight again...

Really? Only one boxer has ever crossed over in the UFC. Even with the weight advantage. The fight only lasted like a minute or two. Randy took him down right away, and ended the fight. Unless Mayweather or pac had proper mma training. They would not last the first round also. Even then they still might not.

Of course they would, I AGREE WITH YOU.

You might wanna re-read my post, I said if you put a boxer in a mma cage with mma rules he is gonna get destroyed, and if you put an mma fighter in a boxing ring with boxers and boxing rules he will get destroyed. Two completely different sports. Apples to oranges.

And I watched that fight, that man talked so much trash about mma fighters it was hilarious to watch him get beat.

I also remember that fight. That card was stacked with good talent, but I watched it because of James mouth. I also did have to reread your post. Sorry I missed it the first time.

Then at the last minute Mayweather will come up with some stupid requirements so that he'll have the advantage or a reason so the fight wouldn't happen.

Yes, this fight should have happened many years ago, and it seems everyone is in agreement that Mayweather waited to increase his chances of winning.

Consider this. Mayweather fights De La Hoya, and wins by a split decision. Some people think De La Hoya won, but I feel Mayweather probably deserved that one.

Pac-man fights the same fighter a year-and-a-half later and decimates him and forces De La Hoya into retirement. This is when the fight should have happened - roughly 2009. Both fighters were in their prime, and the Pac-man probably could have beat Mayweather at that time.

If the Pac-man can open up and catch Mayweather, he can win. Two fights to look at: Watch how a past-his-prime Sugar Shane Mosley caught Mayweather and almost knocked him down. This is the closest anyone has come to knocking him out and it came in toe-to-toe fighting.

Also, watch the first Mayweather/Jose Luis Castillo fight - another scrapfest. Many people think Castillo won, and I do too. Mayweather got very lucky with a decision in that fight.

He also had troubles with Zab Judah and Emanuel Augustus - both quirky fighters.

The point of all this is I believe Mayweather is very beatable by the right person. Perhaps Pac-man can put pressure like Maidana did in his first fight v. Mayweather, and somehow model what Mosley and Castillo did, and add some south-paw quirkiness. I know, its asking a lot - but f he can do it I think its a win.

But if Mayweather is allowed to bike around the ring all night, its going to be a boring decision in Mayweather's favor.

Ahhh, do we have to wait until May?

gotta love the trash talking. can't wait to see Floyds shirt
