40s! balmy!

We've still got about 2' of ice on lakes & ponds in the western end of the state. The CT. River, here in MA, is still frozen almost completely across. It's going to take a lot heat to break all that up. But it is nice seeing a seven day forecast with lows above zero and highs above freezing. So there IS hope!

 

Looks like a late opener for the Quabbin though.

Itchin for open water Fishin!

I've still got a month of hard water to look forward to, regardless of how warm it is. And I'll only be in the 40s.

We still have to wait until the end of April to bass fish, unless they change the season. The new fishing guide seems to indicate that a new bass season will be announced around April 1st. We can only hope so.

Everything I've read indicates that there will definitely be a change in April. Just remains to be seen whether it will be just a change to a year-round catch and release while keeping the same harvest season or make an earlier harvest season as well. I'm thinking it will be the first option.

God bless the south! time to open up the mason jars and drop lures in the water from sun up to sun set. If the fish aren't biting the fluids in the mason jar are . My stogies are waiting for me to pluck them from their beds as well.
