Looking For New Baitcasting Rod

Featured Replies

Looking for a Medium Heavy crank rod around 7" for my new Pflueger Supreme XT Baitcaster (weight 6.53). My goal:

-To make this setup light. (My best setup weights 10.6, which is an Abu Garcia Revo Mgx Baitcaster w/ St. Croix Legendary xtreme crank rod). I know I won't get anywhere close to this setup virtually performance wise, but trying to come close in weight without losing performance.

-I want the best available sensitive rod for under $150. I love to feel the thumps (all the rocks, and knooks at the bottom of the lake/river floor).

-I want 1 pc. rod.

-Going to use rod for primarily plastics 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz.

I have a few rods in mind I'd love to try. I'm here to find your input on what rod you would compare. Going to buy rod off of BPS. Reason I'm buying off BPS, is they have the 6 months to pay. Therefore, I have to purchase on internet (Only 2 days left for 6 month plan), or I'd go to store and test a few. I also searched archive on this. Like your input as well.

Help is appreciated!

The lightest cranking rods I've held are the Powell and doybns but they are pricey

Yeah I love these rods too. If BPS ever sold these rods, they would be amazing store. Any rods compare to a dobyns or powell?

Sounds like you should go after a graphite/glass hybrid rod.

Amazingly lightweight, yet has a great backbone

I haven't tried them, but the new BPS carbonlite rods would be my pick based on the criteria you outlined.

Tatula is in your price range. It's light and you should be able to handle it in a store to see if you like it
