You go out for 5 hours, spend 3 hours fighting tackle, 1.5 hours catching nothing, spend 30 minutes catching 5 bass, and walk out of there with a daily PB of about 5 1/2 inches.

Oh, and getting to lose another kvd 1.5 crank and breaking the tip off a 70 dollar graphite rod in the process of trying to retrieve sed crank.

Early spring winds was my general point. 25 mph gusts and weightless rig on the baitcaster. Ended up with a 30+ yard bird nest of braid that i fought with for hours before just hacking a knife at it. Dollars down the drain

On the 'Baked Potato Classic' road trip 2 weeks ago.......I suffered the birds nest fiasco once on day 2. Just cut it out after 10 minutes of struggling with it and respooled when I got back to my room. Then it happened again on the last day near the end of the day. Cut it out and respooled it again yesterday.

I just count that as the cost of doing business. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just like I accept I'm gonna loose lures.....if I'm not throwing where I'll get get hung up, then I'm not fishing where da fish are.

10 minutes? you quit easily haha, my fiasco last for over 2 hours.

And the lure i lost wasnt because of water debris, it was because the wind took it, and carried it, right into a tree....Dual trebles seem to be near impossible to get free

Always take backup spools for spinning reels and one or two backup baitcasters with you.

Interestingly enough, thats exactly how i lost my lure, wind threw me off balance and had a late release. Couldve sworn a ghost with a 5 iron attacked my lure

Like other members already said, don't sweat the small stuff. A bad day fishing still beats the 'good' days many people right here in the US have.

Baitcasters and windy days don't always get along, so if you have a spinning rig, take that with you.

As far as losing lures, laugh it off and let the tackle monkey do the rest....

I hear you, wind is the only weather condition that gives me fits (we really don't have lightning out here).  I take pride in accurate casts and gusty wind just wreaks havoc with my aging skills.  The best way I find to deal with it is remember how slow the fishing was just a few short months ago and suddenly fighting the wind in order to fight some bass doesn't seem so bad.

Been enjoying the spawn in central Florida for a month now. 2 more weeks I head north for the summer and should be close to the start of the spawn there. I should enjoy at least 3 months of great fishing.

Have no dogwoods around here, but i can tell you ive hooked like 14 largemouth under 5 inches in the past 2 days...

Been noticing a weird trend too, My kvd 1.5 sexy shad squarebill has been catching all these little guys,

Where my Rapala DT-6 in demon has caught nothing under 2 lbs, 6 of em so far.
