New Rods. Unbelievable!

Featured Replies

Okay let me start off by saying I am not a representative of Dobyns. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever. I ordered 3 new rods last week to see how they were and I'll be ordering 3 more this week. I went with the Dobyns champion series and man these are some nice rods! I can't believe the craftsmanship. I have never been so happy with a purchase before. You must feel one to understand what I'm talking about. If anyone is looking to buy new rods, dobyns is definitely worth a look. I think the word I'm looking for to describe these rods is "perfect".

Good for you!  Glad you found some rods you really like.  Every time I do so, it is a great feeling.  Just do not get caught up in 1 series of rods.  In fact, my absolute favorite rod is 1 of only a couple I like in the series.

Jeff

Having rods you like makes fishing a lot more enjoyable!!

You need to make sure and rub it in to the guys who gave you a hard time about spending so much on rods and reels.

I have a few Dobyns, DX series. Very light, well balanced, and nicely made. They have the best thread knob in the biz.

Haha Im not that type of guy. I'll keep it moving and let the weight of my bag talk on tournament day.

I don't own any of the fx series but from what I've heard they're even better then the champions. I'd love to get my hands on a few of those. Especially for those bottom contact baits. Do you think the dx's are a big step up from the champion series?

They are a step up up, but not a huge step up. I won mine, otherwise they're out of my price range.

I miss my 735c dearly. Only sold it because I needed funds for a reel. I wouldn't say it's the best rod, but it was a great frog rod.

That's what mine is used for.

Good to hear you found a brand you like!

I love my Dobyns rods as well. Which rods did you get? If you pick up the 795 or 806 swimbait rods let me know how they fish! I've been thinking about getting one.

Its always a good thing when you find a rod you feel comfortable with.

Agreed. Dollar for dollar, the Champion series is the better bang for the buck. Those extremes are sweet rods. I've been tempted to pick up another, but they are on the pricy side.

Gary Dobyns has even said the Champion line is the backbone of the company.

ive never owned a dobyns but my local tackle store carries em. the champion rods feel very nice! gonna try one of the Fury rods when they come out

Couldn't agree more. I have 2 Champions and a Savy now and I love all 3 of them.

The 734 champ is my most beloved Rod. It can do almost anything (and has for me, including shallow cranking and spooks).

Dobyns has some very unique actions from their 734 to the DX 701/702 and 742 casting rods. What's even better is they are ALWAYS expanding their lineup to meet the demands of their customers.

Simple examples are the expansion of choice between full or split grip, increasingly heavy powered crankbait/swimbait rods, and the DX 683 which came after Gary said he would never have an under 7ft Rod in the dx line. Customers spoke, he listened. Beyond that, you won't get better customer service anywhere.

Congrats! I am in no way a Dobyn's fan but I am happy you found a rod that you like and will enjoy fishing. That is what matters the most, when you are happy with your purchase. Let us know how they hold up and how well you like them in the future. I'm always interested in others opinions.
