Green Pumpkin And Watermelon Red Working In Muddy Water?

Featured Replies

It happened today and kind of confused me. Water was maybe 5 inches of visibility. Is this normal. Never got a hit on black and blue

Very normal. In theory, you should have better chances with brighter or darker colors like chartreuse, black and blue etc. I have total confidence in using the same colors in muddy water as in clear water. You just have to put it in front of their face.

do not let people tell you what bass like, let the bass tell you what they like!

Its hard to hide baits from bass . I will often try to match the water color so the fish cant see it as well. Green is one of my favorite colors in green water .

my boater throws green pumpkin in muddy water, less than 1 ft visibility, all the time and catches fish.

I think we over think way too much.. and I have the tubs of soft plastics to prove it.. lol

Crawdads dont turn blue and black in muddy water.  I like to dip the pinchers or tails to add some flash but green pumpkin works in any water color...imo

My fave color in stained / dark water is watermelon red.

gonna hafta try some of the green colors. ive always just thrown a black or black blue or red most of the time

They make way too many color worms. Iv'e probably  caught bass in every state and pond Iv'e fished in with just a black/blue or junebug worm in all water clarities.

Caught a lot of fish off green pumpkin in Cameron.  Redfish, trout, and flounder all have no problem finding the grubs I was fishing last spring and summer.

I'm with you... always been a black/blue kind of guy in low vis water.  I've been buying greater percentages of green pumpkins/watermellons, and so I've naturally worked them into my muddy water lineup and they seem to work just as well.

Post #6 is right.  WE overthink it.  Personally, I'm trying to spend less time deciding, and more time fishing. :)
