Mbr 783 Owners

Featured Replies

I have been searching online for what people have been throwing on this rod, and it seems like it is a great for spinnerbaits. How does this rod fare with small jigs and Texas rigs?

That is an awesome rod. It will throw light jigs and t rig with no problems.

I have been using mine for the Fogy's that I bought from Seibert Outdoors but it's a great rod for lighter T Rigs, lighter jigs, spinnerbaits and there are folks that use it for topwater.

I have the 783 GLX and I can't think of any technique I would not try with this rod.  It very versatile and super sensitive.  It's the best general purpose rod I have ever fished and I think if I could only own one rod, it would be this one.

MBR783 does all kinds of things well. No problem with small jigs and Texas rigs. This weekend I used it to nab a bunch of bass on Super Spook Jrs. A truly multi-purpose rod if ever there was one.

If you do some searching you will find that at one point the 783mbr imx was the bass rod all other bass rods were judged against. This piqued my interest in the rod and I ended up finding one at a great price. I can honesty say I can see why people say that. It may do some things great, some things well and some things so so but it can do it all. I use mine now for spinnerbaits and larger top waters. I have used it in the past for unweighted flukes and senkos but now prefer spinning tackle for those techniques. Don't throw jigs or t rigs much but with a decent reel you should have 0 problems as others have already said. I like to fish lighter powered rods but this is one that I will be hanging onto.
