New Stradic?

Featured Replies

I checked the Shimano page out and there is a new Stradic coming out. Any more info on this?

I saw the photo on Facebook. That's all I know so far. I'm sure it will be nice and will retail around $200.

If I were a betting man, I would imagine it would be similar to the new Jdm twinpower minus a few bearings and maybe a few other features.

Hopefully they don't "upgrade" it like the symetre. I'd hate to see it with a graphite frame.

Wonder if the FJ is getting an overhaul? I know the reel is a bit on the heavier side but still a great reel. Perhaps just a few styling touches and weight savings in a few places.

Nice - now put the FJ on clearance so I can grab a few more

Not a bad thought.  Based on my repair history and customer service with 2 4000 stradic fi's, not likely I'd be buying the newest Shimano north of 200 bucks.  I think the reels are pretty good, but mine have been too injury prone.  I'd have to be in a pretty good mood to spend even $150 for a 4000.

I've got two 2500 FH, two 4000 FI, a 5000 FI I picked up well-used from an inshore guide and all are still going strong. Granted your outfits get much more use in the salt than mine do... The part that irritates me the most on this is that the end-of-factory-support clock on the FJ series has now started counting down.

Maybe I missed it but could someone post a link or a pic.

On another note, if I can catch one of the, now, older models on sale, I will replace one of my older models.  Time for an upgrade after 8 years of service.

With "freshwater" use there is nothing to worry about in terms of performance and longevity of Stradics 99% of the time.

I was one a Japanese fishing site last week and saw Shimano spinning reels that I think allowed the user to switch between gear settings with I think a push of a button.  I'm not sure I was reading that right though but I think I was.   It looked cool.
