So, despite the name is there anywhere to fish?? Everything is either no fishing, inaccessible, private property, or foul. So for a an area called "Land o' Lakes" this is pretty much of a misnomer, a bust. Does anyone know any different?? 

No luck there, I live in lutz and lots ofprivaste lakes and lil ponds, this area is more like a a retention pond than actual lakes.

 

Best bet is tofind a park and fish from the shore.

Lots of places in Fla like that. When I first moved to an area north of Daytona Beach there were ponds  and pits everywhere to fish. Now they are surrounded by homes.

Used to hog hunt a 32,000 acre ranch in land o lakes.  little did i know we probably ran around some of the biggest bass i'd ever have a chance to catch in some of those lakes/ponds on this ranch.

if you can get some access to one of those neighborhood ponds you should have a good chance at a sizeable bass....  i'd try some of the business complexes that may have a pond, see if you can work your way in there somehow.

Ft myers is the same. Its a joke. Most areas are off limits. Buy a boat and forget worrying about the no trespassing bs. Thats what i wound up doing

Welcome to an over populated Florida.  I first started fishing here in the early 80's there were many places I could easily fish that are now private.  Back then it was saltwater and brackish water fishing for me, it was very good.  It's no longer that way, lots of fishing pressure has made finding fish more difficult.  Also with all the residential and commercial building quite a bit of crap floats out the inlets when the spillways are open.

 

I love Delray Beach, lots to do here but the fishing stinks compared to other areas of Florida that I've fished.

And the man plants cat tails or some sort of extremely thick tall grass around the retention ponds by on/off ramps by hiways so that rules out fishing there.

I used to live in LOL, I lived on Marsh Hawk lake, it was sizable but you need to know someone to launch a boat there. I just saw a show where they were catch huge bass in a retention pond right off of 75 somewhere.

I think its more like Land O Ponds.  All of the neighborhoods have ponds all over them. 

I grew up in Lutz/ Land O Lakes since 1972. It used to be great fishing everywhere.

I have caught many 10 lbs bass and one a little over 12 lbs in Lakes off of Leonard rd.

Newberger Rd. Livingston Ave. Hwy 54 everywhere, Odessa.

The list goes on.

The biggest fish that I have ever caught was on a lake that used to be 5 acres of beautiful clear water.

Now it is merely 2 retention ponds on the Big Cat Rescue property. 

That is a perfect example of what is happening to lakes in this region.

The biggest problem is population and fertilizer. Not only are the lakes secluded to just a neighborhood.

The lakes are also polluted by fertilizers and the fish population is compromised, as well as the balance of the lake itself.

If you can get to them, retention pond bank fishing in the south is some of THE best bass fishing you will ever have. This is where Google Maps is your friend. You can usually find a ton of retention ponds that have some access points to fish from. You may not be able to cover the entire pond due to homes or golf courses, but even small areas along the bank can pay off with big bass.

The private community ponds are very good but you gotta have permission/access.  S. Florida canals and The Everglades are good fishing still.
