I've noticed yo-Zuri is extremely expensive compared to other fluorocarbon line. What is the reason for this?

Yozuri isn't a fluorocarbon it's a copolymer. And compared to other copolymers (CXX, Izorline, Mccoy) it is priced very similar.

Wrong....Yo-Zuri is a hybrid of mono/FC co extruded. P-Line FluoroClear is another hybrid for example.

Copolymers are a blend of 2 Monofilaments.

I bought yo-zuri fluorocarbon line for less than 12 dollars

It is actually more than half the cost of most FC.  It is pretty good line though.  I like the 10lb and 12lb for most baitcaster applications.  Take a look at Tackle Warehouse's website for comparisons to other lines.  They will also give you a good description on the line itself.

I will choose to listen to the MFG.  They describe the line as a 50/50 Copolymer.  You can call it what you like.

There a literally thousands of different monomers, line mfg's choose blends of monomers to create copolymer lines with the specific characteristics that they want.

Sometimes it's necessary to communicate at a level of comprehension. Yo-Zuri Hybrid line is not a copolymer in the since of blended Nylon polymers being a co-polymer monofilament line. Yo-Zuri is a co-extruded monofilament line having a Nylon core with Fluorocarbon outer extruded jacket, the name hybrid comes from that process verses co-polymer blend.

You want to give me a tutorial on polymer science, consider this; my career field, now retired, was director of R & D for a aerospace manufacturer of composite products and fairly knowledgeable in this field.

Maybe we can send a corrective e-mail to Yo-Zuri to make sure they do not call their hybrid whatchamacallit-mers co-polymers.

This thread got interesting, lol.

And Hybrid is very inexpensive compared to anything other than mono. As for performance, it's # test rating is considerably lighter than it's diameter and true tensile strength. ( or basically it's 8lb test line is thicker than standard 8lb test with the strength of 12lb test)

Also, it's ridiculously durable. It has great knot strength and is ridiculously abrasion resistant. It tends to be a bit stiff (line conditioner may remedy this some), but it makes for a great leader around the nasty stuff (rocks, shells, trees, etc).

I've been using Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft and that stuff ain't expensive. Give it a try, it's right up there with Mean Green (McCoy)
