I was rummaging through my pops wine bottle cork collection and came across a few champagne corks. Instantly an idea struck! Drilled some holes to size and bam! Light weight, big, comfortable cork reel grips man! What ya think?

Yes! I've seen some of these before, great! Unfortunately my grips don't have nice big end caps, so I had to bore out the cork ends to make a lip for the screw to grab when tightened. Can't wait to hit the water!

I need the existing knobs to use the internal sleeves to build the new grip on. Not all knobs can have the old grips stripped off and be ueeful. I tried an old green curado and now I need a new knob. The insert needs to be round and those old Shimanos arent.

I like the bigger reel handle grips and the light aroma of wine might be nice as well. Congrats on the great idea. I'll need to try this sometime.

I have quite a few. I took 10 of these style corks. Thinkin of making 1 for my shimano sahara 2500 and maybe a mini 1 for my pflueger president 6920 lol
