Info Needed For Cabelas Fish Eagle Ii Casting Rods

Featured Replies

Hi,

A friend of my Dad has a bunch of fishing equipment he wants to sell relatively inexpensively.  The question I have concerns a couple of Cabelas Fish Eagle II casting rods he wants to sell.  I am wondering if anyone knows the approximate action and power of these rods and also whether they are decent quality or not.  One is a GCII 702 and the other is a GCII 663.

Thanks in advance for any info.

702 probably means 7' (70), Medium Light Power (2)

663 is probably 6'6" (66), Medium Power (3)

To determine the Action gently bend the rod at the tip.

Fast Action will bend in the upper 25% of the rod.

Roadwarrior,

Thanks for the power info.  I would check the action myself, but the rods are several hundred miles away and I need to decide soon.  I am getting a couple of Shimano Curado BSF's and assorted lures from him for a nice price.  Just didn't know if I should bother with these rods.

Thanks.

RW is correct. I worked in the fishing department at Cabela's in KC for 5 years. The first 2 numbers are your rod length (7' and 6' 6" in the case of your examples), and he nailed the powers (2=ML, 3=M, 4=MH, 5=H).

Bluebasser86,

Thanks for the confirmation. Not sure if I have much use for the 702, but for $25 in excellent condition, I'll probably get it anyway. Definitely going to buy the 663.

Thanks again for all your help,

Marty
