Tough Day But Caught A New Pb.

Featured Replies

Went out for a few hours yesterday. It's been tough fishing lately (for me at least). Walked around the lake and started throwing a spinner bait and lip less crankbait with nothing. Tried some plastics for a while. Still nothing. I tied on a DT6 in Bluegill pattern and second cast I hooked up. It felt pretty small but ran straight for a mass of weeds. I couldn't move it at all. I waited it out and it finally came out. I got it to the shore and landed it. It was hooked by one hook on the back treble. Pretty awesome. Anyway it's not huge but beat my previous pb by half and inch and seemed much fatter.

Sweet looking PB. Congrats.

Hey, I see that you are in Utah. Where where you at? I was down at Salem Pond this morning and caught my first bass, so I guess it is my PB too!

Crappy picture, but I was shaking from the adrenaline!

Thanks everybody. Also I hooked into a good one on a keitech swing impact fat. I just can't seem to keep them on. I'm using a Gamakatsu ewg hook. I'm fishing em slowly on the bottom with no weight but can't seem to keep them buttoned. I was using a 6.3:1 tatula with a m/f carbonlite and 40 lb braid. Any ideas? Need a heavier rod? Any input would be appreciated.

That's awesome! Chache Valley is a stunning place. I hear there is some good bass fishing in Idaho. Are there any good places that far north in Utah? I haven't heard of any bass fishing being done that far north in Utah.

That bass hit my shaky rig about three feet from the end of my pole. Suprised the snot outta me. It peeled some drag too. I'm hooked!

There is hyrum reservoir and Mantua up close to here. Also there is Pineview that has smallmouth. I haven't tried a whole lot of places in Utah besides Flaming gorge and Lake powell to be honest. I usually go to Idaho cause there is a lot less people. Feel free to message me if you want and maybe I can help find some places around there or answer any questions you have.

Thanks for the offer! I'm going to hit up Deer Creek tomorrow and Jordanelle this weekend.

I second the switch to a MH rod, will help with hookups. Also, switch to a keel weighted swimbait hook instead of no weight. The bait will swim better.
